Netflix has officially announced that the most intense season of The Lincoln Lawyer is now in production. The news came through its blog, Tudum, revealing that filming has begun in Los Angeles. Fans are eager to see what happens next, especially after the shocking cliffhanger at the end of Season 3.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo is returning as Mickey Haller in a season based on The Law of Innocence, the sixth book in Michael Connelly’s Lincoln Lawyer series. This time, Mickey is not just defending a client—he is the one on trial.
Ted Humphrey, the co-executive producer and co-showrunner, shared some details about Mickey’s struggle in Season 4. He explained, “Well, the biggest cliffhanger of all is ‘What is going to happen to Mickey?’ and that one certainly plays out across the whole season in the form of his trial.”
Mickey will face an intense legal battle, experiencing what many of his own clients have gone through. Humphrey pointed out that Mickey will have to take the same legal advice he has given to others over the years. He realizes how different things feel when he is the one on the other side.
“All the advice he’s given clients over the years, now he has to give himself — and he realizes how hollow some of it sounds when you’re the one it’s bouncing off of. He’s got to deal with how this impacts not just him but also his family and loved ones, not to mention his business!
But don’t worry — he’s going to have help from some of the people our audience loves the most, as well as some familiar faces who will be cropping up along the way — some helpfully… some perhaps not so helpfully, and a few new ones as well,” Humphrey said.

Mickey Faces His Toughest Opponent Yet
Mickey has taken on many prosecutors in his career, but this time, the stakes are personal. His freedom is at risk, and the district attorney’s office is sending their best lawyer to take him down.
Constance Zimmer has joined the cast as Dana Berg, a fierce prosecutor known as “Death Row Dana.” She is determined to win high-profile cases and sees Mickey as the perfect target. Dana does whatever it takes to secure a conviction, even bending the rules when needed.
Humphrey, who is directing the first two episodes, shared his excitement about their first courtroom scene together. “I shot our first scene with Constance in court, and it was fantastic!” he said.
Familiar Faces and New Challenges
The new season brings back key cast members, including Becki Newton as Lorna, Jazz Raycole as Izzy, and Angus Sampson as Cisco. Neve Campbell is also returning as Maggie McPherson after being away for one season. Maggie has a history with Dana from her time in the LA district attorney’s office, and their past could affect the outcome of Mickey’s trial.
Netflix has not announced a release date for The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 yet, but fans can expect more updates soon.
