Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2 reportedly won’t include Master Quest, one of the most popular additions to previous versions of the classic adventure. The information comes from players who obtained early copies of the upcoming release, with one player claiming to have completed the entire game without finding the additional mode.
A player using the name Dragintodarknes reportedly confirmed the omission after completing the remake. Master Quest apparently does not unlock after finishing the main story, either.
Nintendo’s official game listing also makes no mention of the additional mode. However, the company has yet to explicitly confirm that it has been removed.
Originally released alongside the GameCube version, Master Quest returned in the 2011 Nintendo 3DS remaster. It introduced rearranged dungeon layouts, tougher enemy encounters and modified puzzles. The 3DS edition also mirrored the game world, creating another challenge for returning players.
For now, Nintendo could still introduce Master Quest through a future update or paid DLC. However, no such plans have been announced. The remake launches on November 5, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.
