It is an English thriller movie that has been taken as or remake of the Danish film, which was released in 2018 and at the same name. If we move into the plot, Jake plays the role of Joe Baylor, and he was demoted in his career and was moved down as a 911 operator throughout the movie. It was not described why he was not on the field, but it was assumed that he would continue his copp duties after some time.
He used to receive calls from different businessmen and normal people and pranks too. But one day, he received a call from a girl, and it was an intriguing call that caught his interest. The name of the woman was Emily, and she was not shown physically, but her voice was given by Riley Keough.
She used to call Joe sweetie as if she was talking to her child. In the starting, he thought that Emily was doing a prank call or had dialed the wrong number, or she could be drunk too. But he took the matter cleverly and indirectly. He asked her whether she was kidnapped, to which she replied yes.
Then she was clear that the only way they could communicate was by using yes or no questions, and by doing that, Joe figured out on which highway she was driving and what color when was she, and who was her kidnapper that is husband only after some time she disconnected the call.
Joe is desperate to save her, but the only information he has is Emily’s home phone number and address. Joe uses this to communicate with Abby, Emily’s six-year-old daughter, who informs him that her baby brother Ollie is dozing in the other room and that she is not permitted to open the door.
One of Joe’s police colleagues is persuaded to check on Emily’s daughter. When the police arrive to check on little Ollie, they find that he has suffered terrible wounds. Joe believes that Emily’s husband abducted Emily, killed the infant, and then escaped.
The Guilty Movie Ending Explained
After going through the call, Joe soon realized that the culprit was not her husband, Henry but Emily herself, and then he talked with Henry, who told him that he was out of money so that he could buy the medicines for Emily.
And Emily, without her medication, killed her baby, whose name was Oliver, and then panicked and took her away. He claims that she didn’t know anything about that and she is just sick. Then after hearing this, Joe called Emily back on the phone, where he found out that he was standing on a tall overpass where she had a fear of jumping. Two consoles her, and he tells a story.
He told her that he also killed a 19-year-old boy because he was trying to punish him as he was angry with him and he was not ready to kill Emily also and after hearing this Emily didn’t jump from the bridge and the police went there and caught her.
Since Oliver is still alive and in the intensive care unit, Joe is informed that he was successful in saving the infant. Joe gives his friend, who would be testifying for him during the trial, a call and warns him not to lie.
Just be honest with them. Joe decides it’s the right thing to do, even though it means going to jail. Joe calls the journalist one last time, probably to agree to an interview after she had badgered him all day to give her his side of the tale. We hear soundbites of media reporting that LAPD officer Joe Baylor pleaded guilty to manslaughter as the movie comes to a close.
