Let’s know about The Good Liar Filming Locations. Veteran performers Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Helen Mirren are presented in a completely new perspective in The Good Liar. Following Roy, played by McKellen, as he attempts to con a wealthy widow (played by Mirren), he meets her on a dating website.
The Good Liar is filmed in some well-known locations. The movie, which is set in London in 2009, begins with two people of a certain age conversing online and deciding to meet up for a casual supper. This is how Roy (Ian McKellan) and Betty (Helen Mirren) meet, and after some initial difficulty in which each used a false online identity, they instantly clicked.
They become close enough friends that when Roy’s bum knee acts up one night, Betty doesn’t hesitate to let him spend the night in her tastefully decorated home, even though their relationship isn’t necessarily romantic and Betty has just lost her husband and isn’t ready for something along those lines.

The majority of the filming took place in various London sites. However, some other UK locations appeared. This includes the opulent Gaddesden Place in Hertfordshire, which was used as the shooting location for interior scenes featuring Hannalore Schroder’s (Lily Dodsworth Evans’) residence.
The 18th-century English country home has already appeared in movies and television shows like Little Britain, Foyle’s War, Hustle, and Jonathan Creek, among others. And some of the Marks and Spencer television commercials are shot there as well!
Although a few scenes were shot on-site in Berlin for the film’s action sequences, the cast and crew traveled to Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire for the VFX effects that would give the action scenes in Berlin in 1949 a more authentic feel.
The majority of the filming, however, took place in London, with numerous sequences being filmed in open spaces and on city streets. The movie’s outside Fortnum & Mason scenes weren’t filmed in front of the famous retailer. Instead, the team constructed the outside of Hatchards, London’s oldest bookseller, as well as the scene on Piccadilly Pavement.
The cinema sequences were shot at the Olympic Cinema in Barnes, and additional outdoor scenes were filmed on Earlham Street in Seven Dials. They traveled in style because the Charing Cross station tube exit at Trafalgar Square and The Railway in Teddington, which served as both a gastropub and a station for filming, were both included in the movie.
Plot Of The Movie
In 2009, Roy Courtnay, an elderly con man from the United Kingdom, connives people into giving him access to their money with the help of his business associate Vincent. Betty McLeish, a retired history professor at Oxford University who lost her husband a year ago and has funds totaling more than £2 million, is his most recent target.
Roy connives with Betty to provide him with a place to stay by pretending to have a damaged knee. He persistently nudges her toward creating a joint offshore investment account with him so he may siphon off her cash.
Roy and Vincent simultaneously use fictitious Russian investors to undertake an investment scam with their mark Bryn and his associate. When one of the fictitious Russians, who is a Polish butcher, requests a bigger share of the profits, Roy gives the order for thugs to break the butcher’s hand with a meat tenderizer.
Follows Roy while he walks out with Betty after realizing he has been robbed. Roy sends Betty into the stores after noticing Bryn close, then lures Bryn into Charing Cross tube station. There, Roy stabs Bryn to death before throwing him into the path of an approaching train. Back in the shops, Betty and Roy reconnect.
While on vacation in Berlin, Roy and Betty discover that Roy can communicate in German despite his denials. Steven, Betty’s grandson, leads the pair to a building that Roy is familiar with. According to Soviet documents, a young British Army officer named “Roy Courtnay” was assassinated there in 1948 by a Nazi war criminal he was pursuing.
