Korean Cooking reality shows have recently gained quite an amount of popularity, not only among Korean citizens but also among international citizens. After the release of Jinny’s Kitchen featuring Chef Seo Jin, Jung Yu Mi, Park Seo Joon, Choi Woo Shik and Kim Taehyung (BTS), in February, tvN is back with another cooking reality show, The Genius Paik.
The Genius Paik launched its first episode on April 2, 2023. With only two episodes being premiered to date, the cooking reality show has attracted a good number of audiences. The viewers are intrigued to see the infamous South Korean Chef Baek Jong Won, managing a new restaurant business abroad.
The show offers an exciting adventure or you can say, experience, where the audience gets to see how a popular chef starts restaurant businesses in foreign countries without any professional help except help from some celebrities who are not cooking professionals.
The Genius Paik has also captured the attention of the audience through its cast list, which includes some well-known faces from South Korea. The Genius Paik: Plot
The Genius Paik is a South Korean cooking reality show which shows the journey of the South Korean Celebrity Chef, Baek Jong Won (also known as Chef Paik), who is tasked to start a Korean restaurant in two countries – Morocco and Naples, Italy – the countries who do not have any idea about Korean food and recipes. The main challenge of the show is that Chef Paik has to open a restaurant within 72 hours, with only 3 million Won.
The show also challenges Chef Paik to not use any professional help in even minimal tasks from his team. He is rather joined by four other Korean celebrities – BamBam (GOT7), Lee Jang Woo (Actor), John Park (Singer), and Kwon Yu Ri (Singer) – who help him start the business and assist him throughout. For starting and running the restaurant in Morrocco, Chef Paik is joined by BamBam and Lee Jang Woo. In Naples, he is joined by John Park and Kwon You Ri, along with Lee Jang Woo.
The Genius Paik Episode 1 & 2 Recap
In the first episode, Chef Paik is introduced to a night market in Africa, from where he has to arrange for all the necessary items, he requires to set up a food stall and start a new business, competing with more than 150 food stalls in Morocco.
Chef Paik is given 3 million Won ($3000) for his purchases. Since the beginning, Chef Paik is seen to be on the hot seat as he feels lost in the huge market. Later, Chef Paik is joined by BamBam and Lee Jang Woo, who arrive there from Korea. They assist him in setting up the food stall in time and running it.
The second episode, released on April 9, 2023, sees a fantastic start to the Korean cuisine stall in a well-known night market in Marrakech. But soon, Paik and his employees encounter some unforeseen challenges, which compel them to close their business.
The following day, the production team is seen looking for new places to start the stall again while Chef Paik feels nervous about whether they will be able to reopen their stall.

The producers of the show have not yet shared information about the release of the show on other global streaming platforms. Hence, international viewers do not have access to the show as of yet.
