After months of limited updates, FromSoftware has finally shared new details about The Duskbloods by confirming its first Closed Network Test. The upcoming playtest will give selected players their first hands-on experience with the studio’s mysterious PvPvE action game before its full release.
According to information published on the game’s official website, the test will run from August 21 to August 24, 2026. However, gaining access will be far from guaranteed, as Nintendo and FromSoftware have introduced a limited application window and several eligibility requirements.
Applications open for one week with limited eligibility
Players hoping to join the network test must own a Nintendo Switch 2 and have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. Applications open on July 22 at 3:00 PM BST and close on July 28 at 2:59 PM BST.
Successful applicants will be notified on August 7 at 2:00 PM BST, giving players two weeks to prepare before the test begins.
Unlike open beta events, participation is limited, making the selection process highly competitive.
The Closed Network Test will only be available during five scheduled sessions designed to evaluate the game’s online infrastructure.
The test periods are:
- August 21: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM BST
- August 22: 3:00 AM – 7:00 AM BST
- August 22: 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM BST
- August 23: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM BST
- August 24: 3:00 AM – 7:00 AM BST
FromSoftware has also warned participants that bugs, performance issues, and gameplay balance changes should be expected, as the game remains under active development.
First look at FromSoftware’s online PvPvE experience

While many gameplay details remain under wraps, the playtest will support up to eight players in online matches, offering an early glimpse at The Duskbloods’ PvPvE combat system.
The game was originally announced as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive during Nintendo’s April 2025 presentation, with FromSoftware later confirming that additional information would arrive in 2026. June’s Nintendo Direct delivered the first trailer for the network test, and this latest announcement provides the clearest picture yet of what players can expect next month.
Although Nintendo has yet to announce a final release date, the August playtest is expected to provide valuable feedback as the studio prepares for the game’s eventual launch.
