The Chosen is now a franchise. The popular series is growing with its own cinematic Bible Universe. Several new projects are in development. Show creator Dallas Jenkins has started a new indie production company called 5&2 Studios.
This studio will help create new Bible-inspired stories through genuine storytelling and audience involvement.
The initial projects include a spin-off series about the Acts of the Apostles, an animated series, an unscripted show with Bear Grylls, a three-season retelling of Moses’s story, and an eight-episode series on Joseph. For now, there are five projects planned.
These projects were shared at ChosenCon, a fan event where supporters celebrate the series. Fans can enjoy panel discussions with the cast, special announcements, previews, and more. This year marks the second ChosenCon, held in Orlando, with over 5,000 fans attending.
This number nearly doubles the turnout from last year’s first event. Fans are excited for an important part of Jesus Christ’s story, as The Chosen Season 5 will focus on the Easter period, also known as Holy Week. The series plans to have a total of seven seasons, with Season 6 depicting the Crucifixion, and Season 7 wrapping up with Jesus’s Resurrection.
Upcoming Projects in The Chosen Universe
After The Chosen finishes, there will be a follow-up series about the Acts of the Apostles. This will show how the disciples carried out The Great Commission after Jesus left. Fans might see their favorite characters again, as the actors who play the disciples are likely to return for their roles.
The Chosen Adventures will begin The Chosen’s Biblical Universe. This series will take a youthful approach to Jesus’s story. Jonathan Roumie, who portrays Jesus in The Chosen, will return to voice the main character. The series will consist of 14 episodes and will be told through the eyes of a curious 9-year-old girl named Abby.
She lives in Capernaum and is part of a group of children who meet Jesus in the wilderness. He will answer all their questions about life.
Jenkins has mentioned that the animated series will be “witty and fun,” appealing to both kids and adults. Grammy winner Jordin Sparks, comedian Yvonne Orji, and several cast members from The Chosen will provide voices for the animated characters.
The unscripted series, The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls, will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the making of The Chosen. This six-episode series will follow Grylls as he takes The Chosen cast on adventurous challenges. They will share personal stories and insights about their characters.
Jenkins has hinted that this will be just the first of many unscripted projects. After Season 7 of The Chosen, Jenkins will begin writing scripts for the Moses series, which he will run and direct.
Recently, The Chosen shared an emotional wrap video for Season 5. This season will premiere in 2025. Fans should stay tuned for more updates on The Chosen’s Biblical Universe.
