March 13th holds special significance in Japan as “Shinsengumi Day,” commemorating the founding of the Mibu Roshigumi, a precursor to the legendary Shinsengumi military unit, on March 13, 1863.
To honor this historic occasion, the official website for the highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of “The Blue Wolves of Mibu” manga, known as “Ao no Miburo” in Japan, released an exciting new trailer featuring character voices and soundtrack music for the first time.
The trailer introduces viewers to key characters, with Nio Chirinu voiced by Shuichiro Umeda, Toshizo Hijikata by Yohei Azakami, and Soji Okita by Kensho Ono.
Joining them are other main characters such as Hajime Saito voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi, Taro Tanaka by Shun Horie, Kamo Serizawa by Ryota Takeuchi, and Isami Kondo by Tomokazu Sugita.
Set to air on the Yomiuri and NTV networks nationwide in Japan on Saturday evenings at 5:30 p.m. JST, the anime holds a special connection to the city of Kyoto, where the story unfolds, with a collaboration between the anime project and the historic city.
Directed by Kumiko Habara (“I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss”) and featuring series composition by Kenta Ihara (“Handyman Saitou in Another World”), the anime promises to deliver a thrilling adaptation of Tsuyoshi Yasuda’s manga.

Character design is handled by Yuko Oba and Miyako Nishida, while Toshiki Kameyama serves as the sound director and Yuki Hayashi provides the captivating music. The anime is produced by MAHO FILM (“My Unique Skill Makes Me OP Even at Level 1”).
Originally announced in September last year, the anime confirmed its fall 2024 broadcast date in December.
The manga, serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since October 2021, has garnered acclaim, with 12 tankobon volumes released to date. Its English edition, licensed by Kodansha USA, was introduced to readers on February 27, 2024.
