What a ride it has been for us watching The Bachelorette Season 20 with Charity Lawson. It is a dramatic finale that takes us inside Charity’s mind as a whirlwind of love, difficult choices, and unexpected twists went all over the place, much in the sense of the drama we can expect from this long-running reality dating show.
In any case, we saw how Charity, across the seasons, managed to date over a dozen potential soulmates at a time, narrow the list down to a handful, to finally make her choice with decisiveness.
So, how did that wound up? Let’s try to unpack what went down with that; there are some spoiler alerts ahead, so the reader isware. With that warning out of the way, let’s see what made Charity make her final call.
The Bachelorette Season 20 Episodes 9 & 10 Recap
We kick off things with Charity expressing her doubts and her uncertainties about the direction she wants to take; this is a central topic that we’ll see across both episodes, one of being decisive. It’s a big call, after all. We’ve seen her internal struggles come to the surface as she’s having to deal with the emotional weight of a life-altering choice: Choosing someone to marry.
These episodes also showcased how The Bachelorette delves into some social corporate responsibility topics: We see The Hawaii Community Foundation, whose mission is to make a positive impact on that Pacific archipelago, was picked by ABC as the chosen charity of this season. It’s sometimes fun to watch philanthropy and reality shows, as they add a deeper layer of the show’s rather repetitive romantic nature.
Charity Presents The Romantic Contestants To Her Family
We see tension; we see excitement, and we see cleverly placed camera cuts when Charity presents the remaining gentlemen she’s considering to her family. In The Bachelorette, meeting the parents is always a pivotal moment, and it’s the same for every relationship.
The first one to meet the folks was Joey; he made a good impression with some good remarks. Then came Dalton, who brought a sense of skepticism from Charity’s family. Charity read the room when Dalton was there, and we can see the emotional stress it brought upon her. Her conversations with both Joey and Dalton revealed her genuine connection with both men, adding complexity to her decision.
The emotional turmoil Charity experienced was compounded by her family’s uncertainty about Dalton’s compatibility, leading to a heart-wrenching exchange between Charity and her mother.

Charity Makes Her Final Call
With a lot of emotion, Charity sent Joey home in a bittersweet farewell. Charity acknowledged she had a better emotional connection with Dalton, and that drove her to move forward with him.
Then came the proposal. Dalton said a bunch of heartfelt words; we can see his truthfulness. Charity’s affirmative response led to a heartwarming engagement, with the couple sharing their joy with the live audience. This triumphant conclusion to the season was both heartening and promising for their future together.

The Bachelorette Season 20 Episodes 9 & 10 Review
As with most Bachelorette seasons, we have to reckon that Charity Lawson had her fair share of ups and downs; she had fun, made out with a bunch of dudes, faced some difficult choices, and eventually had to come to terms with that, it isn’t a game but rather a life-changing choice.
Charity eventually felt she would go with Dalton despite all that back-talk with her mother. This season of The Bachelorette showcased a woman who had to undergo a crash course of tough decisions.
She had her heart split in so many ways, had to ponder a lot, and eventually make a decision. We can only wish Charity and Dalton the best in their future. I keep wondering about the conclusion of this season and how it is going to relate to the next one.
All in all, it was a fun season to watch, with lots of fun dates, exuberant locations, and the addition of the charity aspect that adds another layer of depth to the show. Call it public relations or what have you, but I feel it was a good thing to do.
