The much-anticipated action comedy, The Fall Guy, featuring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, is finally available for streaming. Starting August 30, 2024, the film will be exclusively on Peacock. The streaming service will also offer an extended version with 20 additional minutes not shown in theaters.
Directed by David Leitch, the extended cut of The Fall Guy adds extra excitement to the original release. In the film, Gosling plays Colt Seavers, a stuntman recovering from a serious accident. He returns to the stunt world when he learns his ex, Jody, played by Blunt, is directing a movie and wants him involved.
Things get complicated when the film’s star, Tom Ryder (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson), goes missing. Colt takes on the challenge to find Tom and win back Jody, amid a whirlwind of wild theories about Tom’s disappearance.
“The Fall Guy” did poorly at the box office, but movie was praised by critics nonetheless
The film features a strong cast including Taylor-Johnson, Blunt, Hannah Waddingham, and Gosling. Peacock promises an enhanced viewing experience with their extended cut, offering “More action, stunts, romance and more sexy bacon!”
The Fall Guy did not meet box office expectations, earning $28.5 million in North America and $25.4 million overseas, totaling $65.4 million globally.
With a production cost of $140 million, it was expected to earn between $30 million and $40 million domestically. The film ended with about $92.9 million in the U.S. and Canada, and $85.2 million elsewhere, making a total of $178.1 million.
Despite the box office numbers, the film has received positive reviews, scoring 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. This suggests it could perform well on streaming platforms. The Fall Guy is noted for its engaging chemistry between Gosling and Blunt, thrilling action scenes, and humorous screenplay.
