So Help Me Todd: The Plot of the Show
Todd, our main character, used to work for a boss that seemingly was doing shady activities behind the scene. The boss ended up dragging Todd into the mess, causing him to get arrested. Todd’s Mother, Margaret, is a very successful attorney and a perfectionist. Due to their complete difference in personalities, the mother and son duo don’t get around well with each other.
She often compares him to his sister, Allison. Allison worked hard to be an ER doctor on the whims of her mother and now lives with her husband. We are also informed about a brother who hasn’t been introduced yet, and we will be seeing him in the coming episodes.
When Todd goes to his mom’s house secretly to pay her a part of his loan of $9,000, he finds her in distress. He learns that her new husband had left her a few hours ago after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. The duo then set out on a journey to find out about him while also working on a murder case that Margaret was assigned.
Though both cases happen separately, when Todd is looking for his stepfather, he stumbles upon clues hinting about the other case. He presents it to his mom, and they end up solving both of them, thanks to Todd’s perfect guesses and slightly illegal ways.
Impressed by her son’s skills, she hires him as a temporary private investigator, as hers had gone on maternity leave.
