The world of 2000s Hip-hop wouldn’t have been the same without Snoop Dogg and through the years, the Drop It Like It’s Hot artist has managed to release countless evergreen hits.
Born as Calvin Cordozar Broadus in California, Snoop was raised by his mom and stepfather. His unforgettable name comes from the cartoon character “Snoopy”, which Calvin supposedly loved a lot when he was just a child. Once Snoop was able to get ahold of a record label deal, he started to focus more on his music and rapping style.
Snoop started his career back in the early 90s, having collaborated with artists like Dr. Dre and many other great names. This was a time when rap & hip-hop music was beginning to gain popularity but also attracted a lot of hate for the violent and sexual lyrics often featured within the songs.
While all the other rappers chose to show off a tough, gangster life in their songs, Snoop delivered his verses in a much softer yet impressive way. His unique rapping style led him to become one of the most memorable rappers of all time.
Just like his music style, Snoop Dogg has mostly remained loyal to one person all his life, although there were times he was caught with other women but nothing serious ever came out of it.
Snoop Dogg’s Dating History
Snoop’s most well-known and loyal relationship has been with Shante Taylor, who was his high school sweetheart whom he had been dating ever since he was just a teenager. Right when his career was taking off, Snoop decided to get married to his long-time love Shante in June of 1997.
Things were going well for the couple until Snoop was found to be cheating on Shante with other women he was meeting while performing all over the US. Despite being married to Shante, Snoop fathered a child with Laurie Holmond. Shante and Snoop have three children, Corde, Cordell, and Cori, while he has a son with Lauri named Julian Broadus.
Snoop had a deep connection with Laurie and although he was married to Shante, Snoop continued to co-parent Julian and be there for all of the important milestones in his life. Not much is known about Laurie’s personal life, but she seems happy to see her son Julian be successful and make a life of his own in recent years.
Shante was most likely Snoop’s first love. and after getting married in the late 90s, Snoop and Shante became the perfect couple that managed both their personal lives and careers with ease.
Shante is nothing less than a girl boss, with her being both an entrepreneur and a philanthropist. Snoop’s wife is also responsible for managing projects like CoCoRi, Boss Lady Entertainment, and other well-off companies. Like Snoop, Shante also takes time to visit and donate to charities that make an impact.
While these are some of Snoop’s heavily public relationships, the rapper also seems to have dated other women like Celina Powell, Chavonne Hodges, and Karrine Steffans in the past. Karrine and Snoop were reportedly hanging out together in the 2000s, the time when they ended up having a fling after Karrine starred in one of Snoop’s MVs.
Snoop’s fans knew this wasn’t going to last long as Karrine has dated multiple pop stars and rappers over the years. Steffans is now a model, actress, and author with a few bestselling books to her name.
Not much is known about Chavonne besides the fact that she and Snoop were spotted together quite a few times in the 90s. Celina is an influencer who gained attention after she talked about spending time with Snoop and dating him briefly before their separation.
Snoop Dogg: The Original “Gangsta” Rapper
Snoop Dogg is part of the handful of 2000s rappers who managed to create a long-lasting platform for themselves in the dangerous yet rewarding industry. Snoop was also a real pimp back in the early 2000s. Dogg’s extensive use of cannabis and soft rapping style makes him stand out from other rappers from his time.
For now, Snoop Dogg seems to be focusing more on bringing Death Row Records Label to its former glory. This was one of his first record labels, so Snoop hopes to make it successful just like its 2000s era. The rapper also continues to collab with hit artists like Eminem, DaBaby and Wiz Khalifa.
