Silver and the Books of Drama is directed by Helena Hufnagel. The plot of the film focuses on Liv, a young girl who finds out that she can go inside her dream world and has full control of all the happenings.
Their mother is with Ernst, who is her second husband, and he already has two kids. All of them begin to love together. The movie is adapted from a novel by Kerstin Gier and has a fascinating plot. And it pushes the audience to think about the possibility of changing or controlling a dream.
Let’s see what happened in the Book of Dreams and if the lead character managed to steer through the obstacles.
Why did Liv have lucid dreams?
Mia and Liv migrated to London to reside with their mom. Their father passed away in an accident, and both the girls were kind of surprised to see their mom move and live with another man, Ernest.
Ernst already had two kids, Grayson and Florence, from his first marriage. Mia and Liv cannot handle all the commotion. In the book, we see the dreams feel too real; she sees herself trapped inside a snow lake and never understands the true meaning behind it.
She went downstairs to the fridge to drink water, but there she noticed a green door which was not present before. As soon as she opened the door, she felt that her mind had taken her to some parallel world. She had no clue if it was all a dream or if it was real.
What was the Book of Dreams?
The boys invited Liv to the party, and they wanted to tell her about their doings and how it all began in the first place. Arthur was dating Annabelle, and the Book of Dreams was there in her family for many generations.
She told the boys that they needed to perform a few rituals to enter someone’s dream. As per the book, the major requirement was that the group should have boys and a maiden.
Annabelle went missing, and they had no clue what went down. Four of them performed the ritual, and they had to write a wish on a piece of paper and burn it.
Jasper’s wish was to be a professional basketball player, Grayson wished to be a school’s president, and Henry did not confess his dream in front of everyone, but he must’ve wished for a girl like Liv.
Finally, Liv wrote that she wanted to talk to her father. All their wishes slowly started to come true, but there was a big downside related to it: their nightmares also began to come true.
Who tore the pages from the book?
Liv got a courier from Anabelle, which had a bracelet that was Anabelle’s. In the dream world, if a person wants to get into the dream of another person, they should have an object belonging to another person.
As she put on the bracelet, she entered Anabelle’s dream, and there she met the fabled girl. Anabelle told her that Arthur did not want to tell anyone about the cure, which is why he tore the pages from the book and hid them in the boat station in the dream world.
Anabelle’s master plan
Anabelle figured out that to transfer the power of the dream world, the maiden had to die. But in this case, Anabelle was the maiden, so she tore the page and began waiting for another maiden to join the group.
Once Liv took her place, she began framing Arthur and also made sure that Liv believed her narrative. When Liv approached Anabelle to take her to the hospital, she knocked on Liv and entered her dream.
She was going to crash the car, and she knew that Liv wouldn’t be able to survive, as she was the maiden and she would practically escape her real-world slumber.
Did Liv see the Green door again?
After it looked like everything was over, another twist was there waiting. Liv again saw the green door that was used to enter the dream world.
The book of dreams was destroyed, and she’s able to digest how she is still seeing the door.
She thought that maybe she never woke up from her slumber, and it was all a dream. At this point, anything concrete is not possible. Maybe the makers are planning to extend the plot forward with a new story and characters.
