Silent Hill: Townfall has sold an estimated 404,000 copies across platforms and generated $20.2 million in revenue, according to market data published by Alinea Analytics on October 30, 2026. The figures cover sales since the game’s launch the previous month and highlight the commercial performance of the latest entry associated with the long-running psychological horror franchise.
The report estimates that 70.9% of the game’s sales came from PS5, making Sony’s console its leading platform. Another notable finding concerns how players purchased the game. On PlayStation, physical copies accounted for 42.8% of revenue, a substantial contribution for a market increasingly associated with digital downloads.
The estimates were shared in Rhys Elliott’s Alinea Analytics report, “Horror games are KILLING it (literally and figuratively)”. These are third-party market estimates rather than official sales figures announced by the publisher or platform holders.
Physical Copies Make a Notable Contribution to PlayStation Revenue
The 42.8% physical revenue share is one of the more interesting findings in the report. It indicates that boxed editions contributed substantially to the game’s PlayStation earnings, although the figure refers to revenue rather than the percentage of copies sold.
Alinea Analytics notes that a high physical-sales contribution is typical of launches with a strong connection to Japan. Physical purchases can remain commercially important for console games, particularly among players who collect boxed editions or prefer buying games at retail.

The report does not provide a complete breakdown of Silent Hill: Townfall revenue by individual platform. However, the estimated 70.9% PS5 sales share suggests that PlayStation has been central to the game’s early commercial performance.
The figures for Silent Hill: Townfall arrive as the horror genre experiences a strong year. Alinea Analytics estimates that horror games have generated $1.3 billion on Steam in 2026 so far, an increase of 17% over 2025 and more than four times the estimated revenue recorded in 2019.
Other horror releases have also delivered notable results. Resident Evil Requiem generated an estimated $211.3 million on Steam this year, while The Outlast Trials earned $62.1 million. Cooperative horror games such as R.E.P.O. and Phasmophobia have also contributed to the genre’s performance.
While these Steam figures cannot be directly compared with Silent Hill: Townfall‘s cross-platform revenue, they illustrate the commercial strength of horror games across the market.
