Shingo Natsume Returns With an Original Anime Film

Ghost – end of night marks Shingo Natsume’s first completely original anime feature film. It also reunites him with Madhouse, the studio behind One-Punch Man Season 1, which helped establish his reputation as a director. Over the years, Natsume has become known for creating unique and visually striking stories, including the critically acclaimed original anime Sonny Boy in 2021. He has also directed ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. and The Tatami Time Machine Blues, bringing years of experience to his latest project.

What Is ghost – end of night About?

Ghost – end of night is set in a near-future world where technology has made work almost unnecessary. The story follows a young girl searching for something truly “real” in a society where people live comfortable but carefully controlled lives. As she questions the world around her, the film explores themes of identity, purpose, and authenticity.

These ideas are familiar to fans of Shingo Natsume, whose previous works often focus on characters struggling to find their place in the world. In an earlier statement, Natsume said he wanted to create an animated film that reflects the times we live in, blending a fictional story with emotions and experiences that feel real.

The Music and Visuals Behind ghost – end of night

Ghost – end of night brings together a talented team of musicians and artists. Japanese rock band Hitsujibungaku created the film’s theme song along with five insert songs, including “Sugar.” The original soundtrack is composed by Ohzora Kimishima, whose cinematic score is designed to enhance the film’s emotional and atmospheric storytelling.

The film’s character designs are based on original artwork by manga artist Natsume Ono and are adapted for animation by Norifumi Kugai. The duo previously worked together on ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept., giving ghost – end of night a distinctive visual style that reflects Natsume’s creative vision.
