Just a year after playing what many thought was his biggest role, Robert Downey Jr. starred in another movie that is now a top hit on Max. “Sherlock Holmes,” featuring Downey and Jude Law, has climbed into the top three on Max. It has surpassed Michael Keaton’s “Knox Goes Away” but is still behind “Grown Ups” and “Grown Ups 2.”
Besides Downey and Law, the film also features Rachel McAdams, Mark Strong, and Eddie Marsan. The movie is directed by Guy Ritchie, who is now working on a TV series called “Young Sherlock.”
The film is based on the famous characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The screenplay was written by Michael Robert Johnson, Anthony Peckham, Simon Kinberg, and Lionel Wigram. “Sherlock Holmes” was released on December 25, 2009, and has a 70% critics score and a 77% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Robert Downey Jr., the star of “Sherlock Holmes,” is coming back to Marvel after just a few years away
It follows Sherlock (Downey Jr.) and his partner Watson (Law) as they work to solve a crime and stop a criminal threatening England’s safety. The film was nominated for two Oscars: Hans Zimmer for Best Original Score and Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer for Best Art Direction, though they did not win.
When Iron Man died in “Avengers: Endgame,” many fans thought it was the end for Downey’s role as Tony Stark. There was talk of a possible cameo in “Avengers: Secret Wars” through the multiverse. However, Downey is returning to Marvel, but not as Iron Man.
Instead, he will play Victor Von Doom, known as Doctor Doom, in “Avengers: Doomsday” (formerly “Kang Dynasty”) and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” It is confirmed that Downey will not play a Tony Stark variant who becomes Doctor Doom. It is still uncertain how Marvel Studios will handle his return while keeping the story from “Endgame” intact.
“Sherlock Holmes” is now among the top three most popular movies on Max. Keep up with Otakukart for more streaming updates and watch “Sherlock Holmes” only on Max.
