Saving Lives At Sea Season 7: Previous Episodes
Here’s a recap of what’s been happening on the show till now. In the first episode, Race Against Time, there was absolute chaos for the rescuers. In Newhaven, on Christmas Eve, two paragliders faced a nightmare. They landed on an isolated stretch of beach with the tide rising rapidly, which turned into a problem for them quite soon.
Meanwhile, at Port St. Mary, on the Isle Of Man, the crew raced to rescue a stranded yacht with three people still on board. Across the Irish Sea, in Barry Dock, a teenage girl is left unconscious, and in Great Yarmouth, a cat ignites a media frenzy.
The second episode was titled Team Work. In this episode, the lifeboat crew teamed up with the specialist coastguard rope team to help an injured climber in Swanage. In Rhyl, North Wales, a retired crew member comes to save the day when some mechanical problems disturb the lifeboat. On Douglas, in the Isle of Man, a fishing boat catches fire, putting the crew on red alert while a poor swan disturbs the routine training exercise in Gravesend.
In the following episode, Caught Out, things were still going crazy. For the third time, the Lyme Regis crew was featured in the show. In Lyme Regis, on Dorset’s Jurassic coast, the crew went on a search for three fishermen whose boat had capsized in the river Axe. The lifeguards at Harlyn came to rescue a teenager that was caught out by a rip current.
On the west coast of Scotland, the Oban crew helped an injured walker. In “Pressure”, the fourth episode, the crew at Bundoran rescued a teenage girl and in Portishead a man, after falling off from a cliff suffered chest injuries. Bundoran RNLI Helm Brian Gillespie in the episode mentioned that rip currents are difficult to spot which makes them even more dangerous.
In 2021, RNLI lifeboats launched 1078 times in Ireland. They helped around 1485 people and saved 21 lives.
The last two episodes were titled Learning On The Job and Ready For Anything. In Eastbourne, two casualties were cut off by the tide, meanwhile in Fistral, North Cornwall, a young surfer is in danger of being smashed on the rocks, and on the coast of South Wales, a female paddle boarder is caught out by the tide. In Eastbourne, another problem awaits the crew. A boat catches fire just outside the harbor disrupting a routine day at the station. In Trevone, North Cornwall, another surfer gets caught in a rip current.
