Robert Pattinson has opened up about the physical challenges of filming The Batman Part II, admitting that returning to the role has been tougher than his first experience as Gotham’s Dark Knight. The actor is currently filming the highly anticipated sequel in London and says the demanding fight sequences have made him more aware of his age.
In an interview with GQ India, Pattinson confirmed that he will remain in London until the end of 2026 while production continues. Although he described the experience as enjoyable, he acknowledged that the physical side of playing Batman has become considerably more difficult.
Robert Pattinson Says Batman’s Fight Scenes Are Harder This Time
Pattinson explained that the biggest difference between the first The Batman and its sequel is how demanding the action has become. Reflecting on his fight scenes, the actor said,
“I’m definitely feeling my age when fighting a lot. I’m literally like, ‘Goddamn, this is significantly harder than it used to be.’”
He nevertheless remains optimistic about the finished movie, calling the production “really fun” and saying he thinks the film
“is going to be pretty great.”
The actor also described the sequel as a marathon, particularly after an unusually busy period in his career. Pattinson has worked on several major projects in quick succession, including The Drama, The Odyssey, Primetime and Dune: Part Three. He told GQ India that he has been working almost nonstop since the Hollywood actors’ and writers’ strikes ended, and said he plans to take a vacation once the Batman sequel is completed.
Pattinson also confirmed that some recent footage showing Batman riding a motorcycle does indeed feature his version of the character. When asked whether the motorcycle rider was Batman’s alter ego known as the Drifter, he simply replied,
“Yeah, it’s me!”
The Batman Part II Gives Bruce Wayne a New Detail
The sequel will also feature a small but significant piece of Bruce Wayne’s wardrobe. Pattinson has partnered with Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre and will wear a Reverso watch in The Batman Part II, continuing a connection between the brand and the Batman franchise.
Pattinson discovered that Christian Bale had previously worn Jaeger-LeCoultre watches while playing Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. He said putting the Reverso on immediately gave him a strong Bruce Wayne impression, describing it as something that felt
“so incredibly correct for it.”
Beyond Pattinson, The Batman Part II has expanded its cast with Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch. Returning cast members include Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, while Matt Reeves is again directing and co-writing the film.
Plot details remain tightly guarded, although Reeves has previously indicated that the sequel will explore Bruce Wayne more deeply after the first movie placed greater emphasis on Batman. The film is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 18, 2028, nearly six years after the 2022 original.
