The long-awaited Pokémon HOME compatibility update for Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen is arriving on October 7, 2026. The Pokémon Company has confirmed that Pokémon HOME will undergo maintenance from 9:00 AM that day to prepare the service for integration with the two Kanto games.
The update will bring Pokémon HOME to Version 4.1.0 on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. Once the update is live, players will be able to transfer Pokémon from FireRed and LeafGreen into Pokémon HOME and subsequently move them to other compatible Pokémon games.
The Pokémon Company stated that “all services will be unavailable during the maintenance period,” so players should expect Pokémon HOME to be temporarily inaccessible while the update is deployed.
There is an important restriction for trainers planning their transfers. Once a Pokémon from FireRed or LeafGreen is moved into another Pokémon game, it cannot be returned to either of the two Kanto titles. Likewise, Pokémon originating from other games cannot be transferred into FireRed or LeafGreen.
The update also arrives as Pokémon Bank prepares to shut down in February 2027, making the new FireRed and LeafGreen connectivity particularly significant for players looking to preserve their Pokémon collections.
