Marathon is Bungie’s sci-fi PvPvE extraction shooter set on Tau Ceti IV. Players become cybernetic mercenaries called Runners, entering dangerous zones to collect loot, complete contracts, fight rival players and survive long enough to extract. The game shares its universe with Bungie’s original Marathon trilogy, but it is neither a remake nor a direct sequel. It combines high-stakes survival, persistent world elements, customizable Runner shells, factions and Bungie’s signature first-person shooter combat.
