You must have dealt with the anticipation for the release of The Righteous Gemstones Season 3 if you are a The Righteous Gemstones fan. The third season finally premiered on 18 June 2023 (Sunday) on HBO Max, and the first episode from the third season revealed that it was worth waiting for.
The first two seasons of The Righteous Gemstones were entirely filmed in South Carolina locations such as North Charleston, Charleston, and Mount Pleasant. Some locations in South Carolina include Table Rock State Park, Berkeley Country Club, Beaufort City, and more.

The Righteous Gemstones Season 3 Plot
The Righteous Gemstones Season 3 is about a famous family that preaches Christianity with a history of donation, greed, and diverging from accepted standards. The Gemstones kids finally get in charge of the Church. However, they realize the responsibility is much more than expected, and their life changes.
In the first episode, The Righteous Gemstones kids deal with decreasing donations and the number of people attending Church. Meanwhile, their father gets retired. Thaniel Block, an investigative reporter, ended their operation and died accidentally.
The three kids cannot work together as they must. Judy returns from her tour, Kelvin and his best friend, Keefe, work in the teen outreach group, and Jesse tries to climb the ladder of spirituality. Emotions and absurdity get balanced in this series. The third season will be full of insanity.
Judy brings her new sides every season, and we feel we do not know her. She cheats on her husband, BJ, with a guy in her band. Dusty, a car racer, had been a part of the Church for a long time. He questions the new leadership. Meanwhile, Gemstone’s rival religious family looks for Dusty’s wealth.
Many viewers thought some characters might disappear from the series forever. However, their favorite characters, including Judy Gemstone, Jesse Gemstone, Amber Gemstone, Kelvin Gemstone, Dr. Eli Gemstone, Billy Freeman, Tiffany, and more, will return this season to entertain them.
The Righteous Gemstones Season 3 Filming Locations
The Righteous Gemstones Season 3 had to get filmed in September 2022, but it could not happen due to Hurricane Ian. The show makers wrapped filming in December 2022 though filming got delayed. HBO announced the beginning of the new season on Twitter in June 2023.
The cast and crew members donated food to nearby non-profit organizations after production ended. Most filming took place in South Carolina, and the following are the related locations:
North Charleston Coliseum & Performing Arts Center
The location has been important for all three seasons, and the Gemstones Salvation Center got filmed at this center. It gets located at North Charleston’s 5001 Coliseum Drive. The main atrium, parking space, interior, and exterior of the Arts Center got used for filming.
El Molino, West Asley
The show makers got a permit to film debris and crashed cars outside El Molino Supermarket’s parking lot. The store is at 1610 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Charleston, and the filming for the related scene occurred in December 2022.
Citadel Mall
The Gemstone Prayer Center got filmed at Citadel Mall. The mall gets located at 2070 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, while the series portrays it as Locust Grove. Opened in 1981, Citadel Mall has more than a hundred stores.
Moncks Corner
Only three episodes got released to date. Main Street (Moncks Corner) was one of the filming locations. It lies between West Railroad Avenue and Library Street in South Carolina. Filming took place at night in November 2022 at the same location for The Righteous Gemstones Season 3.
