Plot
Reyka Season 1 was loved by a huge number of viewership, and that’s the reason the drama is titled and Award-winning crime thriller series. The series was even nominated for two International Emmy Awards. From an amazing cast like Kim Engelbrecht, Ian Glen, and many more, the storyline of the drama is grasping.
In the first season of the series, the story opens up in 1994 with the childhood of Reyka Gama, who was abducted at the age of 12 by lecherous Angus Speelman, who sexually and physically assaulted Reyka for two years.
Reyka moves to a new place and begins to live her life. The story then goes back to adult Reyka, who is now a crime investigator. She is talented, brilliant, and witty, but her past trauma still haunts her, which makes her weak sometimes.
Now, after almost 20 years, Reyka has been assigned to investigate the serial murders. However, the series of murders is linked to a sugarcane field in KwaZulu-Natal, and it was the same field from which Reyka was abducted. Reyka had to move back to her hometown.
In the second season, the story progresses to six months later when Reyka, after solving the case, sugar cane filed the case, is transferred to a new police station. Her life is going fine as usual, but soon, a new situation breaks out, which makes Reyka gear up for a new journey in a ‘perfect’ world.
