1000-Lb. Sisters Season 4 Episode 8 Storyline
Season four of the show does not bring good news for Tammy, as she finds herself very close to death. The doctors recommend immediate surgery, which goes well, fortunately. The family decides it would be best for Tammy to go back to rehab under professional care to get a hold on her life.
Things are not the best for Amy either. Now with her child who needs her attention and care, it is even more difficult for her to get back to losing weight. The recent episode of the show was released on March 14th, 2023, and was titled “Forbidden Fruit.” We see that it has been four weeks since Tammy came back to rehab.
Since then, she has managed to lose forty pounds, and soon we see her packing things up to go home. Chris and his wife set on the road to bring her back home, but soon he gets a call from the rehab that does not sound very positive. At the same time, Amy and his son, Gage, are trying to prepare a surprise for Aunt Tammy.
Amy gets a call from Chris, who confirms that Tammy will not be coming home for at least another ten days due to a trach infection. We skip to one week into Tammy’s infection and see that the entire family has come together to discuss the same. Nobody in the family is ready to take care of her and for all the right reasons.
Tammy wishes to come home as soon as possible, but the family thinks the opposite. An argument commences between the family and Tammy on whether she should come back or she should stay at the facility. Tammy eventually finds no way out and agrees to get treated at the facility.
Amy and Amanda visit the spa to destress from Tammy’s outburst. The entire scene of them having a massage is utterly chaotic and funny but still emotional and heartwarming. We skip another month and find Tammy adjusting well at the rehab, making friends but still not talking to her family.
Another week later, the Slaton family is out to prepare for the upcoming fall. The family, while literally sitting on corn, gets into a serious discussion about how Amy has been coping with her new routine with her two kids and the doctor telling her to lose twenty pounds of weight.
Two weeks later, we see Tammy and Caleb, his ‘friend’ from rehab flirting back and forth and Tammy declaring that the two are dating. The two seem to complement each other really well and are very well in love with each other, to the point that they have trouble stopping from complimenting each other.
We get an insight into Caleb’s life, and it has not been very nice to him with his mother and father passing away. The new couple is ridiculously adorable, with Caleb really in love with her more than Tammy is with him. The episode reaches an emotional end with Caleb proposing to Tammy and asking her to marry him.
1000-Lbs. Sisters Season 4 Episode 8 Review
The reality show, 1000-lbs. Sisters is about two scarily obese sisters, Amy and Tammy, with a combined weight of a thousand pounds trying not to tip over the edge and completely lose control over their life. It is their journey of losing weight and living a normal life. The sisters depend a lot on each other for support and assistance, considering the two share similar experiences.
Throughout the seasons of the show, a lot has happened with their health issues, sometimes reaching a point where their life gets in danger. The show also includes their family, Chris Combs, their brother, and his wife, along with Amanda Halterman. Their interviews and commentary give us more insight into the sisters’ lives.
Fans of the show know that the two sisters share great chemistry in front of the camera with their silly banter and perfect comedic timing. They seem to have great personalities, but when it comes to the actual purposes of the show, the two lack immensely. While their arguments may be fun to watch, over the episodes, it is getting harder to believe that they want to lose weight.
Amy was always more motivated to lose weight, and she has always put in the extra effort because she had a clear goal, to get pregnant and have her own child. With season four, she has not only managed to lose quite a lot of weight, but she also has two kids and a loving husband.
Obviously, this has brought in newer struggles in her life, like trying to continue her weight loss journey, all the while taking care of her kids and raising them. Episode eight of the fourth season of the series was a clear indication of the differences in the personalities of the sisters.
Amy has progressed a lot with her weight loss but still struggles to adjust to her new lifestyle. Her spa time with Amanda felt like it was a much-needed escape time for her. She looked under a lot of stress because her doctor was telling her to put off twenty pounds by their next meeting. While Tammy is away in rehab, Amanda is her emotional support rock.
Tammy, on the other hand, is clearly struggling in rehab, but over time she managed to find her rock as well. What is concerning in the show is that the producers show all sorts of family fights in each of the episodes, but the part where the sisters are making efforts to lose weight is barely there.
The sisters complement each other really well, but when apart, they seem like completely unlikable personalities. Tammy, especially, feels very bratty, and though her family understands that she must feel so alone in the rehab, they also realize how important it is for her to be there for her health.
In rehab, she found herself a new companion, and the two were adorable together, but the fact that they agreed to marry each other just a few weeks after knowing each other’s names felt a bit icky. The family is right for worrying about her health and safety, but she seems on the defense side as of now.
Our Verdict
The episode also showed how the entire family sits together and indulges in discussions, and makes decisions together, something Tammy forgot to learn. Chris, the brother, is a caring big brother, whereas Amanda is the rational one. Her arguments about her having a life of her own with her own troubles all the while going through a divorce.
She tries to be as present and supportive as possible for the two, especially Tammy, but the latter is very inconsiderate towards her. Out of the two, Amy is the one who has achieved her set goals, but with the continuing seasons, Tammy’s journey is getting hard to watch.
The episode was an emotional rollercoaster with its ups and down and completely hilarious moments. The show plans on wrapping this season with a total of ten episodes, with the last episode releasing on March 21st, 2023.
Our Rating: ⭐ (2.9/5).
