Max Payne games have been really close to the hearts of kids who grew up playing them in the 2000s. After almost 10 years since the last game in the series came into the market, Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Games are officially onto the remakes of Max Payne 1 & Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne.
The founder of Rockstar Games, Sam Houser, talked about this new partnership with Remedy Entertainment. Houser says he was thrilled when their friends from Remedy Entertainment came up with the idea to remake the original Max Payne games.
Remedy Entertainment And Rockstar Games Are Remaking Max Payne 1 & 2
Remedy Entertainment’s CEO, Tero Virtala, acknowledged the love this gaming series has all over the world. Max Payne has a special place in the company’s heart, and they believe the fans around the world feel the same emotion. He also addressed that his team is pretty excited to bring back the same story, action, and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games in a completely new way.

A new development agreement between Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Games sees the new Max Payne remakes coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X / S. Also note, the remakes will release as a single title. Rockstar Games is financing them, while Remedy Entertainment is using the Northlight game engine in development. The company’s games, such as Control, used the same gaming engine.
Talking about the release date for the remakes of the Max Payne games, well, they are still in the concept development stage. So we can’t expect a release date anytime soon. The trend of bringing the nostalgia back has been hitting waves everywhere for the long-time fans of the game as well as the ones who will be getting introduced to the series on new consoles and platforms.
Way before the announcement of Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes, just last year, Rockstar Games went on to release a Definitive Edition of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, a compilation that saw the remastering of popular games such as Grand Theft Auto: III, Vice City, and San Andreas.
