In an elderly man’s old journal, a stranger had come to the village. He did not have a great first impression either. He must have experienced something horrific since there was something dangerous about his eyes.
Honestly, anyone would have preferred if he was gone, but the generous elderly man welcomed the stranger. After about four days since the man had come to their village, he was very quiet. It was almost like he was not there at all.
A handful of nosy villagers seemed to show interest in him. But Carl never cared. One week later, it had been about ten days since the man showed up. Some boys who peeked over the fence had told Carl about what this man was doing. They said that he swings his sword every day.
It seemed like he had a backstory, but that was it. Still, Carl did not care too much. And so, another month passed. The man still used to swing his sword in his front yard, but Carl had never seen it himself.
The villagers started to say that he was preparing for revenge and that he was a disgraced knight or a famous mercenary. The man had been training for upwards of half a year without missing a day, so Carl was naturally curious and decided to meet with the man the next day.
When Carl went to check on this man the next day, he was disappointed in this man’s sword skills. They were merely average and nothing great. But one thing that Carl was sure of was that there had to be a story. A story that pains the chest and burns the heart. But he was also sure that efforts probably won’t fix the man.

Just like that, three years pass on. The man still swings his sword every day, and Carl is now married to Rema. The man who had nothing to do with Carl would still not leave his head. And then five years had happened.
While many have repeatedly experienced joy and sorrow dozens of times, just standing in his yard, swinging, swinging, and swinging again, how long was he going to keep this up?
On the 6th year, 9th month, and 3rd day, there was a lot of snow, but the man trained nevertheless. By this time, Carl had a lovely daughter, Lora, along with Rema. The villagers gathered to congratulate him, and the man continued his training.
And before anyone noticed, it had been 15 years. At this point, Carl had forgotten to check on this man. He must have been training still, just like how the sun rises in the morning, and the moon rises at night. His training had become such an obvious thing.
After thirty-seven years, we saw that the man had not quit swinging his sword. His eyes were raging, and he had not let go of his sword even till the end. Carl could not take his eyes off him for a while.
