Raven Symone Christina Pearman-Maday, more popularly known as just Raven, is a famous actress and singer. She is known to have started her career as a child actress, after which she moved on with her career by joining hands with Disney during her teens. The actress has been around for so long now, so let us tell you more about Raven Symone before and after over the years.
Debuting in 1982, we first saw the actress in The Cosby Show, followed by her appearance on Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper. Both of these got her immense popularity and a number of awards. At fifteen, the actress did one of her most famous roles as Raven Baxter in the Disney show, That’s So Raven.
Since then, she has been actively cast in several movies like Dr. Dolittle, Dr. Dolittle 2, The Princess Diaries 2, Revenge of the Bridesmaids, The Cheetah Girls 2, and so many more. She has not kept herself limited to just acting and has also put out music albums for her fans, including works like Here’s to New Dreams, Undeniable, This Is My Time, and Raven Symone.
The actress has worked hard even as an extremely young child, be it modeling as an infant or acting as a teenager for Disney. Fans have seen the actress grow up into an amazing actress, singer, and songwriter. While her movies have been iconic, there are more reasons why the actress is so loved by her fans.
She has openly commented on the legalization of gay marriage, happily revealing that she supports the decision and feels even freer. In several interviews, especially the one with Oprah Winfrey, Raven revealed that she does not wish to put herself in boxes by labeling herself as either ‘African-American’ or ‘gay.’
Raven Symone Before And After
With a stacked career and a devoted group of fans, the actress has talked about her body transformation and insecurities she had developed over the years of being in show business. The thirty-seven-year-old has finally decided to come out with her story and what entering the industry at such an impressionable age did to her.
Raven had confessed that growing up and being in the public eye affected her so much that even before she came of age, she was at a point with her body where she wanted to make permanent changes to it, which she did end up doing. While there were those who loved her, there were also those who shamed her for her appearance.
This led to her getting two breast reduction surgeries and liposuction before the age of eighteen. She has put herself under the knife so many times it is hard for her to even remember. Her fame with That’s So Raven also brought along body image issues, which must have been hard to handle as a minor. She said that her father was supportive of her decisions, wanting her to be happy with herself.
He did all of the paperwork for her, and Raven got the breast reductions and lipo in hopes that people would finally stop calling her fat. Since nobody really knew about her procedures, the trolling and hate did not stop, affecting the actress even more.
She confessed that she was not as skinny as the other actresses on the set, so it was difficult for her to feel ‘thin and pretty’ since that was the standard of beauty set for her. But since the actress is no more a teen and has matured over the years, she has said that before going under the knife, people should definitely consider therapy, which could help them deal with their body issues.
While this permanent change on her body was out of hateful feelings towards herself, the actress also talked about how she is on her journey to weight loss and that she has already lost over thirty pounds. She owed it to her beautiful wife, Miranda, saying that she wants Raven to live a long and healthy life and does not wish to carry her body to her grave so early on.
Wanting to be with her wife for as long as possible, the actress has taken help and guidance from her to help her lose weight. She weighed around one hundred and seventy pounds in March 2020 and planned to maintain a healthy weight for as long as possible.
