Damiane is one of three protagonists whose story will continue in Crimson Desert Charting the Unknown, alongside Kliff and Oongka

Pearl Abyss has confirmed that the team responsible for Crimson Desert Enhanced’s story improvements also wrote all three character campaigns in the upcoming Charting the Unknown DLC. The expansion will continue the journeys of Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane, giving each protagonist new story content that explores parts of their lives and motivations that received less attention in the base game.

Speaking on Dropped Frames Episode 485 on October 25, Pearl Abyss marketing and public relations director Will Powers revealed that the studio brought back the same writing team for the expansion. He explained that “they wrote all the new campaigns for this DLC content,” connecting the new stories directly to the work done for the Enhanced update.

That update introduced additional cutscenes and story moments throughout the main campaign. Powers described its approach as adding context and improving players’ understanding of characters, with changes ranging from small dialogue additions to entirely new scenes. The DLC will build on that narrative work rather than treating the characters’ stories as disconnected additions.

Charting the Unknown Will Expand the Three Characters’ Stories

Oongka will receive a dedicated story campaign in Charting the Unknown, giving players more insight into the character’s background and motivations.

Powers described the new campaigns as epilogues for Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane. Following the main game’s events, the stories will explore what each character does next as they begin pursuing their own paths rather than continuing to travel together.

Powers particularly praised Oongka’s storyline, explaining that the character had relatively little backstory in the original game. The new campaign gives the team more room to develop his character and explore aspects of his motivations that were previously less developed.

According to Pearl Abyss’s official DLC overview, players must complete the main story before starting the three individual character storylines through the Journal menu. However, the expansion’s open-world activities have separate access requirements, allowing players to begin exploring new content after establishing their Greymane Camp at Howling Hill.

The DLC will also introduce an ocean-focused storyline, underwater exploration, sailing, and new relationship options. Charting the Unknown is scheduled to launch on October 29, 2026, in North America and Europe, with its release falling on October 30 in Asia.
