Overwatch 2 removes Bastion and lets us now explore why the developers did what they did. The game obviously had a troubled launch and has been causing issues with the players ever since. Although, the developers finally took the initiative to take the game offline on Monday and make the changes which were honestly quite necessary if you ask me. Although, the company made changes that were totally out of the blue, and no one could have seen it coming at all. The guys removed Bastion along with Torbjorn, and this was chaotic as hell.
This emergency maintenance came out to be a bigger blow than we could have ever imagined. Now, you guys should know that meanwhile these two characters were taken away from the rotation, the game developers ended up locking the whole swath of characters as well. This side effect came for some of the players as they reported it all through Reddit or Twitter while expressing their concerns and better ideas for the developers to look forward to.
Back on Monday, the official account of the game on Twitter came up with an announcement about these changes. They talked about how Bastion has been completely disabled in the game. Along with him, Torbjorn is disabled as well but only during competitive play. Now, let us understand the reason why these changes happened in the first place and what Overwatch developers have to say about the same.
Why Did Overwatch 2 Removed Bastion?
Overwatch removed Bastion from the gameplay because the character was facing bugs that affected the rest of the experience for players. Talking about the same, the Twitter account further revealed that they would be coming back with an update regarding these heroes pretty soon. Our best guess is that they are working on the characters, and we hope that they shall bring them back soon.
What Was The Problem With Bastion?
According to what the players have been reporting all this time, it turns out that there was a big with the ultimate ability of Bastion. By using this, players were able to “spam” the artillery present with their character onto the opponent. As for the overload ability that came along with Torbjorn, it was seen that it could be triggered for a longer duration, generally a double one.
It all came down to the time that the button was pressed for the same. Although, after using these characters and their special abilities, other characters got locked in the gameplay. These were the heroes that the platers initially unlocked.
How Did Blizzard Handle The Issue?
Well, Blizzard took no time to acknowledge the cause of this problem which was available on their issue tracker. The creators blamed this was all caused because of a side bug on the career. They publicly announced that their team was aware of the problem at that time about how the players were unable to access the heroes that they had unlocked.
Blizzard says that this issue is caused by the servers, which are meant for tracking player progression. In the end, the developers promised the players that they should address and resolve the issue. This came to action on Monday this week and ended up disabling Bastion for good which we have already talked about.
Will We See Bastion Again on Overwatch 2?
It is very hard to say if we will see Bastion again on Overwatch 2. Given the fact that he is a significant hero and character in the game, we can just hope that Blizzard is fixing the bug with his character while the players are able to enjoy the game in peace.
