Let’s find out Out Of The Past Filming Locations. Build My Gallows High was adapted into the 1947 noir movie Out of the Past, which was directed by Jacques Tourneur. The screenplay was also written by Daniel Mainwaring, who wrote under the pen name Homes.
The movie’s gloomy photography and intricate yet reversing plot helped it become a cult favorite. Jeff Bailey (Robert Mitchum), a former private investigator with ties to New York, is the central character.
He starts again in the little mountain town of Bridgeport, California, where he also establishes a petrol station after quitting his PI job and changing his name to Jeff Markham. His newfound serenity is disturbed by Joe Stefanos’ (Paul Valentine’s) presence, which also brings Jeff’s history to the surface.
To find Kathie Moffat (Jane Greer), a woman in Lake Tahoe, he must come out of retirement. Jeff crossed paths with gambling mogul Whit Sterling (Kirk Douglas) in his previous line of employment.
Fortunately, despite Kathie shooting the crime boss four times, he only received one wound. After that, she flees with the kingpin’s $40,000, but Sterling insists that he doesn’t mean to hurt her and just wants her returned.
