Nintendo Download: NBA 2K27, Onimusha and Orbitals Lead This Week’s Switch 2 Releases

Nintendo’s latest weekly download lineup brings a substantial selection of new games and updates to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The biggest releases include Orbitals, NBA 2K27, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, giving players several major new experiences to explore.

The September 3 Nintendo Download also highlights new additions to Nintendo Switch Online’s Nintendo Classics library, including Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom, IKARI WARRIORS, and R.C. PRO-AM II. Meanwhile, Pikmin 3 Deluxe receives a free Nintendo Switch 2 update, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses expands the Nintendo Music library with its Fódlan-themed soundtrack.

Nintendo is also running a Blockbuster Sale through September 9, while numerous additional games are arriving on the eShop throughout the week.

NBA 2K27, Onimusha and Orbitals Headline This Week’s Nintendo Releases

Orbitals is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, offering a two-player co-op adventure inspired by retro anime. Players take control of Maki and Omura as they attempt to survive the deadly Storm Wall and dangers beyond it while working together to save their home. The game emphasizes teamwork and communication throughout its intergalactic journey.

NBA 2K27 arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4. The basketball game features MyCAREER, MyTEAM and MyNBA alongside new gameplay animations based directly on real NBA action. Enhanced shooting mechanics, ProPLAY features and additional movement options are designed to make on-court play more dynamic.

The game’s MyCAREER mode also introduces a significant historical element. Players can compete across five iconic eras of NBA history while building a MyPLAYER and pursuing a Hall of Fame career, including a legacy-focused story set in the Modern Era.

Capcom’s Onimusha: Way of the Sword also launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4. The action game takes players into a dark fantasy version of Kyoto, where Miyamoto Musashi battles the monstrous Genma threatening the world. Motion controls using Joy-Con 2 controllers provide another way to experience its sword-based combat, while pre-orders are already available through the Nintendo eShop.

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is available now on Nintendo Switch 2. The game combines dungeon exploration with shop management, asking players to balance the risks of venturing deeper into dangerous dimensions against the value of the treasure they can bring home. Loot can then be sold, with players setting prices, developing their stores and building relationships with returning customers.

Nintendo Switch Online members also receive three classic additions. Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom continues Ryu Hayabusa’s legendary adventure, while 1987’s IKARI WARRIORS challenges players to fight through enemy forces with limited ammunition, power-ups and vehicles. R.C. PRO-AM II brings faster tracks, stronger opponents, 24 courses, upgrades and two-player racing to the Nintendo Entertainment System collection.

The free Pikmin 3 Deluxe update is another notable addition for Switch 2 owners. It improves the game’s visuals for the Switch 2 display and high-resolution televisions, while also allowing two players to experience Bingo Battle locally or online through GameChat.

Nintendo Music is expanding with An Ode to Fódlan, adding the soundtrack from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The collection includes tracks such as “Fódlan Winds,” “Chasing Daybreak” and “God-Shattering Star,” giving Nintendo Switch Online subscribers another soundtrack to explore.

The Nintendo Switch 2 eShop is also receiving a broad selection of games, including Asdivine Knot – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, BioEden, Console Archives BUBBLE BOBBLE, Jenny LeClue – Detectivu, Mewgenics, Mind Diver, Model Debut4, MY HERO ACADEMIA: All’s Justice, SPRAWL zero, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants – Ninja Edition, Valheim, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition. Several have staggered release dates between September 4 and September 9.

The standard Nintendo Switch eShop is also adding games including 4096 Space Traders Era, Aerea, Arcade Archives SATAN OF SATURN, Asdivine Knot, Before Exit: Gas Station, Can I Not Fall for Idols?, Dice A Million, FlyKnight, Gelatinous: Humanity Lost, Isle of Reveries, Junkyard Builder: King Of Scrap, Order Automatica, Paper Airplane Flying Game, Tales of Formentera, Toaplan Arcade Garage: Flying Fire Shark, Touhou: Lost Branch of Legend, Veiled Edge, and several others.

Finally, Nintendo’s Blockbuster Sale runs until September 9 at 11:59 p.m. PT, offering discounts on selected digital games for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. Players can browse the available deals directly through Nintendo eShop or Nintendo’s online store.
