CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past will make its first official appearance during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026.
The upcoming expansion, announced earlier this year, marks the first major story expansion for the acclaimed RPG since Blood and Wine launched in 2016.
The developer shared the announcement through the official The Witcher X account, inviting fans to tune in on August 25 for a first glimpse of the expansion.
In its announcement, CD Projekt Red stated,
“Our Path to #gamescom 2026 starts with #OpeningNightLive. On August 25, catch a glimpse of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past during the show!”
According to the studio, the expansion is being co-developed with Fool’s Theory, the team also working on the remake of the original The Witcher. CD Projekt Red has previously described Songs of the Past as being closer in scope to Blood and Wine than a smaller DLC.
Although the expansion was initially planned for 2026, the studio delayed its launch to 2027. CD Projekt Red also revealed that additional Witcher 3 content is already in advanced production and is expected to arrive before the expansion’s release.
