The body was recognized as Retired Navy Commander Thomas Miller, and it was initially assumed that he committed himself by jumping from the top of his building. Miller had a history of depression. It was later revealed that Miller had been dealing with the death of a friend. The friend had been killed in battle somewhere in the country. Miller never got over it, and the group sessions were his final chance to improve. Miller, on the other hand, had several bruises on his face that didn’t appear to be caused by the fall.
Palmer suspected that there is more to Miller’s death, so the crew looked into it. They checked into Miller, who retried since his last flying mission, which resulted in the loss of his friend, and who appeared to have reached a turning point in his grief counseling sessions. He was even interacting with a grief sponsor. Who was there to hold his hand while also holding him accountable? Let’s take a closer look at Episode 17.
NCIS Season 19 Episode 17 Recap
Retired FBI Special Agent Fornell served as Miller’s grief counselor. On the day of Miller’s death, Fornell called him. He had contacted him about 5 times before being asked to come in. Miller, according to Fornell, had reached a breaking point in his sessions. He seems to have healed with the young Petty Officer who died under his charge. Petty was also a friend; her death forced him to retire, and it tore her father, Richard Jordan, apart. Miller was never forgiven by Jordan for his daughter’s death. He kept harassing him. Miller was eventually forced to obtain a restraining order against him.
Jordan has been seeking out since the order expired last week. The crew went to Jordan’s house and interrogated him. Jordan, it turns out, needed Miller’s assistance. Jordan had received a call on his daughter’s old phone. It was a message saying they had her. Jordan immediately suspected fraud when they demanded $50,000 to release her. He called Miller to inform him of the situation, and Miller may have taken action to rectify the program. This, along with the missing person’s report, raised suspicions. There was a report of a missing person named Thomas P. Miller.
Both Miller Were The Same Person
So they went to another Miller’s house to speak with his wife. They could tell that there aren’t two Millers based on the family photos. This Miller was much the same. Miller had a second family and was a bigamist. He even has a child from his second marriage. This would surely explain Miller’s decision to withhold secrets from his known widow. He told Wife #1 that he was in counseling sessions with Dr. Grace when Grace claimed he wasn’t and that he had to be somewhere else. He was, in fact, with Wife #2. Miller never brought up his military career with Wife #2. His time with her was a break from his regular routine.
The second wife had no clue her husband had another woman or that he was unfaithful to her. Because the second wife did not count, she was technically a lawful wife. Miller cheated with his first wife, and he and Wife #2 became pregnant quickly. Miller proposed after learning about the pregnancy. He was technically in a relationship with the second woman for nearly a year. Nothing more. Miller had a double life and carried a second cell phone to monitor everything. They discovered another cell phone in his car. They also discovered that he had an incident with Wife #2 on his last day.
It Was The First Wife
Miller panicked out as he assisted his wife into the car. He saw something that frightened him and simply left her there. He also ignored her numerous phone calls. The crew investigated what had occurred. They discovered Jordan was following Miller. Jordan was brought in to be questioned, and he stated that Miller never saw him. Miller had been terrified by someone else. A silver car is being driven by a, his brother-in-law, for example. Miller’s first marriage’s brother-in-law saw him with his second family. The DNA on the weapon was examined by the team. The weapon used to bash Miller to death was linked to Miller’s brother-in-law.
But it wasn’t him. It was Wife No. 1. When Miller’s brother-in-law noticed him, he called his sister and told her to speak with her husband. Olive Miller then got in touch with her husband. Miller told her about his second family and expressed his desire to be with the new wife since he thought she had set him free. He also stated that they had a child. This irritated Olive because she’d been hoping for a family for years. Years had passed for her husband to be entire again, and he was abandoning her for a new lady.
