However, unbeknownst to his school, Jinsung had awakened the S-rank Edeya called ‘Absolute Killing Intent’.

The plot of My School Life Pretending To Be A Worthless Person depicts the struggles and hardships Jinsung has to overcome to prove that there are no ranks in society based on the construct of Edeya. There are no ranks to human souls, and anyone can overcome their weaknesses by breaking the shackles of resistance.
After a military system riddled with divisions had been introduced in his school, Jinsung has to make sure that he overcomes the limitations of being an F-rank. Through effort and training, he suppresses his murderous soul and intention of the killing of people. As a man with morals, he is intent on doing good for his peers rather than killing them.
Although it is hard for him to contain his Edeya, Jinsung navigates the challenges of possessing an S-rank soul and living the life of an ordinary person who faces discrimination and bullying from his peers owing to his low status while breaking the system of division.

My School Life Pretending To Be A Worthless Person Chapter 35: Storyline
Chapter 35 of My School Life Pretending To Be A Worthless Person is a continuation of chapter 34. The atmosphere created previously was that of one of the high-ranking students picking a fight with the low-ranking students.
In the guerilla training program of the school, Jinsung and nine other students who were very weak were ranked very low. Of a total of 300 students, he ranked the last; above which were the other weak students from the second year. Throughout the program, Jinsung and these students were placed very low on the social scale of Edeya, forcing them to get the least favorable treatment.
They were the last squad to get food (which they barely got except for rice and kimchi) and the squad to get the least hospitable room. However, through the inspiring words of Jinsung, who wished to bend the system into an egalitarian one, they were not disheartened and faired extremely well in their guerilla tactic programs.
They all showed their stamina and battle prowess and ranked among the top 10 in the program, with Jinsung even exceeding the ace of the second years, Seyun. This hurt the egos of the students who were top ten in the social ladder. Out of spite, they bullied the weaker students, and Jinsung, being their ‘leader,’ stepped in to protect them.
However, the student ranked top 7 attacked him using his Edeya, which allowed him to twist his limbs and suffocate his enemies. Accusing Jinsung and the squad to have used cheap and petty tricks to trick the system, these people kept humiliating the weaker squad.
Knowing that it is a temper tantrum, Jinsung let the bully do whatever he wanted to, hoping that he would leave after he was satisfied. Attempts to save Jinsung also proved futile. Telling the squad to learn their place, the student kept suffocating Jinsung. However, the boys, inspired by Jinsung, who had once stopped the violence that was being committed by another student, Byun Giyoung, decided to fight back.
Jinsung realized that he inspired these people despite knowing that if he fought now, he won’t be able to get the rank badge. Not wanting to give in to the discrimination, he solidified his Edeya dagger and defeated the high-ranking student. Jinsung and his team had enabled their bodies to tolerate fights, but the high-ranking student (who thought that Edeya ranking was the end-all and be-all) had not built his body for endurance.
Realizing that his leg strength is trash, Jinsung charged his dagger at his leg and injured him mildly. Shocked by the turn of events, the high-ranking student fainted.
Because of the fight, Jinsung’s accumulated rank points were deducted, and he got back to his original three hundredth rank. To prove their worth again, Jinsung and the other students from room number 10 would have to participate in the Edeya trench wars, the segment with the highest distribution points in the guerilla training.

My School Life Pretending To Be A Worthless Person Chapter 35: Review
My School Life Pretending To Be A Worthless Person is a manhwa with potential. Firstly, the main protagonist is shown to have a destructive power, but he is also a person of morals. He is an eccentric character from the very beginning of the manhwa. Unlike most other manipulative main characters, he remains embedded in reality, only wishing to help people.
Even though his power is twisted and murderous, he is conscious of his morality and wishes no ill-intent upon anyone. Not to mention, he is also a funny character, bringing in humor in various places.
Secondly, the manhwa shows how the society in My School Life Pretending To Be A Worthless Person is flawed. It is based on social ranking. The weaker ones are trampled on, while the stronger ones feed off of bullying them. Our main character has to go through bullying from his teachers, upper-classmen, and even juniors because of his low rank.
He is often the one facing humiliation and isolation. He is forced to do chores for the people above him. However, he wishes to change this Edeya system of ranking through his power. For instance, we see in this chapter how the weaker-ranked students are given to live in the least hospitable situation. They even had to fight for food.
Despite their good stamina and battle prowess, they were suspected of cheating because they faired well in the training program. This speaks volumes about how the ranking system is detrimental to society. The weaker ones are always looked down upon, and no one agrees to extend a helping hand to them. Discrimination and marginalization are too prominent.
Thirdly, the manhwa does a good job of showing the true purpose of the main character to destroy the hierarchical set-up based on Edeya. Even though it is gradual and slow, our main character has already proven that high-ranking human souls are not pre-requisite for everything.
Through his stamina and endurance and even the other low-ranking students’ motivation, we see that the system is slowly being modified. The art style of the manhwa is also decently good.
Our Verdict
The manhwa My School Life Pretending To Be A Worthless Person has great potential to develop into a better story. The visuals and the characters are all slowly getting more detailed, and the whole plot seems intriguing.
