After being dumped by her cheating boyfriend, Akane Kinoshita turns to the online game Forest of Savior (FOS) that his ex-boyfriend introduced to her. In the game, she meets a guild member named Yamada and confides in him about her breakup. However, Yamada responds coldly and shows no interest in her.
Set to see her ex-boyfriend regret his decision to dump her, Akane decides to attend an offline meet of Forest of Savior players and look her best. There, she meets Yamada again, but he once again rejects her advances. Despite this, Akane feels drawn to him and becomes increasingly intrigued.
As they continue to interact in the game, Akane opens up to Yamada, and they begin to form a connection. Their friendship helps Akane move on from her past relationship and find happiness once again. This unlikely bond between them may just be the start of something new.

The first episode of the anime- “This is Why I Can’t Stand Gamer Guys,” was enjoyable to watch as it closely followed the storyline from the first two chapters of the manga without any major changes. It began with a peaceful scene of tea swirling before quickly transitioning to Akane being dumped by her boyfriend for another girl he met in an online game. The opening song starts right after the breakup scene, which is a happy tune, unlike the situation.
Feeling down, Akane narrates her previous encounters with her friend Momoko, who finds it amusing that Akane’s relationship ended because of a game. Momoko advises her to move on from her ex-boyfriend.
Akane logs into the game and discovers a pop-up about an offline event for FOS. She takes out her frustration by attacking low-level monsters, but her annoyance grows when a guild member, who she describes as an Afro-wearing Noah mask, shows no interest in listening to her. Angry, Akane logs off.
Determined to make her ex-boyfriend regret his decision, Akane attends the offline event, where she accidentally bumps into Yamada, the annoying player who wasn’t interested in her break-up story earlier. Meanwhile, another attendee named Takuma, who is Akane’s ex, recognizes Yamada and starts worshipping him. In an attempt to spite him, Akane lies to Takuma, claiming that she is there with Yamada. Takuma is unhappy and leaves with her girlfriend.
Despite winning the battle, Akane still doesn’t feel satisfied and drags Yamada to a bar to drink with her. After consuming too much alcohol, Akane becomes emotional and overwhelmed when Yamada puts a bandage on her ankle. She tells him to order whatever he wants, but the next morning, she wakes up in Yamada’s bed with a severe headache. The first episode also contains a cute after-credit scene about Akane choosing her character’s hairstyle. The Viewers are super curious to watch the upcoming episode because the cliffhanger we were left on wasn’t easy to take.
