We’ve reached that time of year when a new Monster High live-action movie has been released. We’re going to be talking about Monster High 2 Ending today, which is the sequel of Monster High, The live-action movie that came out about a year ago.
Basically, this movie focuses on Clawdeen and Draculaura. Clawdeen is trying to become the Prefect of her High School against Toralie. On the other hand, Draculaura is feeling left aside and is trying to find herself.
It’s the spooky season, so let’s do Monsters High 2 Ending Explained, talk about every single detail, and break down all the important things in Monster High 2. There was also a hint about the third movie at the end of this second movie, so we will also talk about that.
Monsters High 2 Movie Explained
Monster High 2 starts out, and we get to know that, basically, the main cast is in their second year of Monster High. Clawdeen is now “eek talk” famous because of the fact that she saved the school in the last movie. Also, since she’s half human and people like her now, she’s single-handedly ended racism or humanism.
Laguna still looks interesting. Clawdeen and Deuce are still a thing, and I still can’t support that. It feels too unnatural, even though I know that they’re both basically different characters from the ones that they were in the original franchise.
The big deal of this movie is that Toralie has entered the building. She still has that mean vibe, but she’s British. She also has developed this thing where she hates witches, and since Draculaura has been practicing witchcraft, that makes her uneasy because she has trauma from when this witch stabbed her with this metal called Wraith Silver, which is lethal to monsters.
When she told them this, she was like, “Ohh. Draculaura never told you?” This was weird because why is it her responsibility to inform the group of this metal?
Election For The Prefect
So then there are elections for this Prefect Student leader, and the school ends up choosing Toralei and Clawdeen to compete for this role. I say election, but I don’t think it’s a democracy. I’m pretty sure the school itself has a complete say in who wins this thing.
Anyway, Toralie’s whole campaign is protecting monsters from outside sources like the witches. Clawdeen takes a more inclusive approach, as you might imagine. Then there’s this new guy named Ellis who comes waltzing in and practices witchcraft and is a vampire-like Draculaura. So they become close and have a duet, which is probably my favorite song from this movie.
Then, two mysterious cloaked characters raid Draculaura’s room, and people correctly assume that they’re witches. This causes a whole scandal, and Headmistress Bloodgood bans witchcraft from being practiced at Monster High.
Toralie starts winning the non-existent votes of Monster High because of this whole thing. Draculaura ends up feeling like an outcast because even her friends like Clawdeen are saying, “Well, maybe you should just go along with this whole band because I need to win the votes of the people.” Do you though, girl? Have we established how this election works?
Going To The Human Realm
Anyway, since Draculaura feels like an outcast, she turns to Ellis, who then reveals himself to be a human who practices witchcraft, and then he throws in, “Like, hey, Draculaura, Babe, come and meet my mother.” And his mom happens to be the leader of this Salem Coven. This woman is named Queen Zamara, and she wants to end this war that has been going on between vampires and witches for centuries.
So Draculaura goes to the human realm with Ellis and leaves a note to Clawdeen and Frankie that she has dipped, and she needs them to cover for her, and everybody is not happy about that.
However, Clawdeen decides that she needs to bring Draculaura back to Monster High. Because A, her dad, Dracula, is coming to celebrate Draculaura’s 1600th birthday, which is a problem because Draculaura is not currently present. And B, this whole fiasco is not good for Claudia’s campaign because witches are not popular people at the moment.
They snoop through Ellis’s room and find a Seattle address attached to his suitcase. So, Clawdeen, Deuce, Frankie, and Heath go to the human realm.
The headquarters are at this company called Coleman Eaves, which is an anagram for Salem Coven, and they sell herbal concoctions infused with magic. Draculaura meets Zamara, AKA Z. She thinks she’s cool and then agrees to speak at this witch Conclave. This happens to be on the night of her birthday, and this supposedly will end Witch-Vampire feeds once and for all.
Meanwhile, Clawdeen is calling her dad to hack the security system of the building and find Draculaura. Then Claudine, Frankie, and Deuce infiltrate the coven with the help of this magic beetle that Cleo gave to Clawdeen, which can sense magic.
Draculaura Doesn’t Want To Go Back
When they eventually find Draculaura, she does not want to go back with them. Clawdeen, Frankie, and Draculaura sing this song about how “this is not how their story is supposed to go and don’t tell me that it’s over.” I was super confused for the majority of this song because why are we making such a big deal? Because can’t Draculaura just come back the following day.
But then I realized they said a singular line before the song started about how Draculaura would be expelled by Headmistress Bloodgood if she didn’t return to campus. But I’m sure that if you explained the situation, Headmistress Bloodgood would make an exception. She’s definitely done so before. And also, if you leave now, it’s not like y’all are never going to see each other again.
So anyway, the whole Clawdeen wanting Draculaura to come back in the 1st place is a bit weird, considering how Clawdeen was always trying to do the right thing. Because Clawdeen is prioritizing selfishly in a way, wanting to keep Draculaura by her side instead of ending a devastating war that has been going on for centuries.
But in the end, Clawdeen decides to respect Draculaura’s decision, and they leave her there. They go back to Monster High, where things are a disaster Campaign.
It Was A Trap
Then Clawdeen makes this really awesome speech at the final debate. And Draculaura ends up seeing this, and she decides, “Hey, F World Peace, I want to go back home. And see my Girlies”. This is when Zamara reveals that Draculaura has actually been a prisoner this entire time.
Apparently, the Salem Coven had been keeping tabs on Draculaura for a while. And they were actually the ones that have been secretly fostering her to pursue witchcraft. She was also the one who sent the witches to Draculaura’s room at the beginning of the movie.
She needs Draculaura’s full power, which will be unlocked once she turns 1600, in order to commit mass genocide of the entire vampire population, and at this point, Draculaura is like, “Ellis, how could you? I thought sparks were flying”.
So Z locks Draculaura in a Wraith silver cage in the basement of the like building and brainwashes her. Does a little spell on her to make her recite the genocide spell. But if you take a second to think about it, though, that’s pretty brutal. On her birthday, she’s going to be killing her family and herself in one fell swoop. However, the slightest touch will be able to break her out of that spell.
Monster High 2 Ending Explained
Thankfully, though, guess what? Guess who was there witnessing all of this? It was the magic beetle that was still there for some reason. It alerts Cleo back at Monster High that Draculaura is in trouble. So Clawdeen, Frankie, Deuce, Heath, and Torelie go to try and save her.
They infiltrate the building again. Duece Heath and Toralie start fighting all the henchmen to create a sort of distraction. This is so Frankie and Clawdeen can sneak into the basement and try and bust Draculaura out.
This spell is about to be cast when, guess what? Ellis has a change of heart. What a surprise. He starts, like, actively trying to stop his mom. Clawdeen and Frankie get to the cage, and they’re like, “Oh, my God, what should I do? This metal might kill me.”
But Clawdeen doesn’t care about that, and through the power of friendship, she finds the strength within herself to grab them with both hands. She wrenched them open through sheer agony, and she reached through in the space that she created and managed to touch Draculaura, breaking her out of that spell before Clawdeen collapsed onto the ground Dead.
The Happy Happy End
The Grim Reaper himself comes for her, and while Clawdeen is having a little chat with him, Draculaura and Zamara are having this epic magic battle now that Draculaura has unlocked her powers. But luckily, we viewers don’t really see much of that because we are in Clawdeen’s perspective when she is dying on the floor.
Dracula arrives on the scene because Zamara gave him a little call. She wanted to see his face when he died. He takes care of Zamara and her crew. And then Draculaura celebrates her sweet 1600. Clawdeen has chosen to be perfect like her mom was back in the day. Clawdeen and Duece kiss and then burst into song shortly after.
At the end of Monster High 2, Deuce reveals that he’s going on a year-long journey to find himself, and you know that would only be unnecessary detail to include if there is going to be a next movie, which there will be. The ending scene shows the Grim Reaper going for Frankie because they’re a freak of nature, I guess.
