The official website for Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved released its full trailer on Wednesday, offering a sneak peek into the emotional tone and new characters in the film. Alongside the visuals, the trailer introduces the film’s ending theme, “Bokutachi no Hibi,” performed by veteran singer Sachiko Kobayashi. It also teases an insert song titled “Negaigoto” by kotringo, hinting at heartfelt moments to come.
The movie is scheduled to premiere on June 27, 2025, and will screen in 199 theaters across Japan. Fans will also get to experience the film in immersive 4DX and MX4D formats, promising a more dynamic and physical viewing. This marks Kyoto Animation’s latest theatrical project after years of building up the beloved franchise through its TV anime seasons.
New Faces And Returning Favorites

Joining the voice cast are Fumihiko Tachiki as Kimun Kamui and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Azad, while Shiori Sugiura takes over the role of Ilulu from Tomomi Mineuchi, who left the industry in 2022. Returning cast members include Mutsumi Tamura as Kobayashi, Yūki Kuwahara as Tohru, and Maria Naganawa as Kanna, along with Yūki Takada, Minami Takahashi, Daisuke Ono, Yūichi Nakamura, Emiri Katō, and Kaori Ishihara.

The film is directed by Tatsuya Ishihara, known for his work on Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S and Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!. fhána, the series’ regular musical contributor, returns to perform the opening theme “Namida no Parade,” adding continuity to the emotional resonance fans have come to expect from the anime.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid began as a manga by Coolkyoushinja in May 2013 in Monthly Action. After the magazine ceased publication, the manga moved to Manga Action in early 2024. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga and its spinoffs in English, including Elma’s Office Lady Diary, Fafnir the Recluse, and Kanna’s Daily Life.
The anime first aired in 2017, with a second season, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, premiering in 2021. Both seasons were streamed by Crunchyroll, with Funimation handling the English dub. The series gained further attention with its special Blu-ray release Volume S, which featured a bonus unaired episode.
