Mercenary Enrollment, AKA Teenage Mercenary is the story of a young boy Yu Ijin, who was assumed dead after the plane he was on crashed. In a sense, he did die that day. Ijin lost all memories of who he was and was like that for the better part of a decade.
During his time, he was adopted into a top-secret training program. To them, he was a blank slate, the perfect candidate. He took part in his training diligently and rose in ranks to reach No.1 in the program.
However, everything changed when he met Lieutenant Kang Ham-Chan. Ijin was on a rescue mission deep in enemy territory. It was Lieutenant Ham-Chan who helped him escape and return to his old life. Within 6 months of meeting, Ijin was on a flight back home, back to Korea, back to his only remaining family in the whole world. They welcomed him with open arms.
He enrolled in the same school as his younger sister Dayun. He was under strict orders from Lieutenant Ham-Chan not to engage in conflict of any kind. However, the instincts he picked up from being surrounded by war for a decade changed him. When he learned that Dayun was being bullied at school, he didn’t hesitate even one second before jumping into action.
He didn’t care that they were kids of a Congressman. By the time he was done with them, they were left with no choice but to leave the country altogether. He will won’t let anything get in the way between him and his family ever again. He had already lost soo much time with them. To this day, he refrains from talking about the time he spends in the war zone for his safety and theirs.
However, it seems the past can’t stay buried forever. When he decided to leave, he made a lot of people unhappy. Enough for them to consider taking his life. He was considered the best in the world. Many want the title for themselves. The only way to be the No.1 is to subdue the No.1. Aside from that; he does have a lot of enemies too. He was able to stay a step ahead of them for this long. Just when everything was starting to get normal in Ijin’s life, his past came knocking. Mad Dog has been on the run and has appeared back in Korea. And he has only one goal in mind, destroying Ijin and all that he loves. After following him around for a while, he was able to find out everything about his life. Mad Dog concluded that he had become soft.
To force his hand Mad Dog first kidnaps his Grandfather. When he rushes out to save him, Dayun also gets taken. Furthermore, he is warned that should he call for help, both hostages will be killed off immediately. Mad Dog lured him into an abandoned building that he had filled with mercenaries. There are four teams between Ijin and Mad Dog.
Ijin is severely outmanned and outgunned. He starts taking out the teams one by one in a massive fight which can only be described as something straight out of a John Wick movie. Before the Boss Battle, he comes across Anna. She is someone who had received training similar to Ijin, but she was no match. He forces her into close-quarters combat and subdues her.
However, he couldn’t kill her to maintain the safety of the hostages. He makes his way up and confronts Mad Dog. His men surround him with guns drawn while they talk. He tells Ijin how he lost everything etc., your typical bad guy sob story. He concludes by saying that he will take away everything Ijin loves starting with his Grandfather.
However, before he can pull the trigger, all the men surrounding Ijin get shot. They fall to the ground in unison, and a team of mercenaries with guns descends from the balcony on ropes. Mad Dog tries to flee but is frozen in his tracks by a sniper pointed tight at his head. To say Ijin was in shock after seeing them would be an understatement.

It is unclear what the future holds for Ijin. He was rescued by what looks like to be the team that he was part of in the past, the Numbered. They were clearly after Mad Dog and did not have any reason to go after Ijin at this time. After everything is said and done, Ijin has a lot he has to explain to his family.
