Sometimes, actors who play good and clear characters on TV struggle to balance that with their real-life personalities. Melissa Joan Hart, known for her role in “Sabrina The Teenage Witch,” experiences this herself. She almost lost her famous role because she did a sexy photoshoot for Maxim magazine in 1999. Melissa Joan Hart called it the “worst day of my life.”
Melissa Joan Hart, who is now 47 years old, shared this story on the Pod Meets World podcast. The hosts of the podcast, Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong, were talking about a picture of Hart with Britney Spears from the premier of the movie Drive Me Crazy in 1999.
Hart revealed that even though she appeared happy in the photo, her eyes showed that even though she appeared happy in the photo, her eyes showed that she had actually been crying throughout the event.

Hart explained that she had to wait on the red carpet. They asked her to stay in her car for about an hour until Britney arrived so that we could take pictures together. Melissa Joan Hart wanted to begin talking to the press, but the management asked her to wait for Britney. After they took the pictures and the movie started, Hart was quickly taken to a fancy car because she needed to go film another movie called “Scary Movie in Vancouver”.
She described that the movie she was supposed to shoot for required her to be an energetic, large-chested character who gets killed at the start. She was put in a limo and driven away. At that time, she had just broken up with her boyfriend while they were filming the movie, so she was crying and feeling sad.

Before Hart could reach the airport, she received a phone call informing her that she was no longer a part of Scary Movie and should go to a party at Planet Hollywood instead. That is when the night took a turn for the worse.
While she was at the party, her lawyer came and asked if she had done a photoshoot for Maxim magazine, to which Hart responded with a yes. Her lawyer then informed her that she was being taken to court and losing her job on a TV show. Hart was also instructed not to talk to the press or do anything.
She went on to share that her mother, her producer, called her on the phone and asked what had happened. She said she did whatever her publicist had told her to do during the Maxim photo shoot.
Hart explained that she almost lost her job because of the words on the Maxim magazine cover that read, “Sabrina, your favorite witch without a stitch.” They claimed she broke the rules in her contract with Archie Comics that said she would not appear naked as the character. But Hart believed they did not have a strong argument. After writing a sorry letter, everything got sorted out, and she did not get into trouble.
However, it took a few weeks to resolve the situation, and at that time, Hart thought the worst was going to happen. When the Drive Me Crazy premiere ended, she grieved over the possibility of losing her TV show, and she found comfort in her father’s arms. Despite the difficulties she faced that day, Hart found one positive aspect. The attention from her photo shoot actually increased people’s interest in Drive Me Crazy.
