Masterchef Season 12 Episode 3 Recap
With only six aprons remaining, the contestants raced to win one. Felix from season three returned, and he, Olivia from season six, Fred from season ten, and Bri from season ten formed the first group to compete tonight. All four presentations were excellent. They were all taught that after applying their unique magic to their plates, they deserved medals for how beautifully they could plate a dish. However, they frequently failed when it came to flavors. Olivia, for example, had been advised that her flavors were a little off, so she could have played it safe tonight. Instead, she went out there with her flavor palate.
All four did not return to their regular 9-to-5 occupations when their time on the show ended. Instead, they turned their enthusiasm for food into employment, and Fred, for example, went on to work at a bakery with a former judge. Tonight, Fred decided to make a dessert. Unfortunately, he ran across some difficulties in the kitchen. His chocolate was not developing as he desired. He didn’t have enough time to do all he wanted, so he rushed a few things. Bri followed suit. She chose to cook with fish as a protein, and the judges observed her as she was doing so. And they were all concerned that it was undercooked.
Time’s Up!
Then it was time to go. The chefs ceased to cook. They brought their food up, and Felix was first. Felix made chile oil for his pork belly and cabbage dumplings. Her father had made the chili oil. She wanted to incorporate her background into her cooking because she didn’t do so the last time she appeared on the show. Her dish was stunning. The flavor was excellent, but the bread was undercooked. Bri was up next. Bri made Pan-Seared Seabass with Fennell Puree and Fresh Tomato Water. The term beautiful is used again because her food resembled a piece of art.
Bri’s food tasted even better than it looked. Fred was up next. He decided to become a vegan. So, Fred made a Dark Chocolate and Tofu Mousse. The term tofu confused the judges, who thought Fred shouldn’t have taken such a risk on his big night. They all believed his dish would be bland before tasting it, but it was pretty tasty. It was delicious. It was sour. It was incredible that he managed to cook that in under 45 minutes.
Then there was the group’s last meal. Olivia made Pistachio Crusted Lamb over White Bean Puree. She couldn’t recall if she seasoned it or not, so it didn’t matter how pretty it looked or how delicious it tasted. This season, the judges were seeking confidence.
Bri & Fred
Fred and Bri were the two young chefs that walked away with aprons. They returned to prove that they could win and have already demonstrated how far they’ve come. Samantha from season nine, Jamiee from season five, Alejandro from season eleven, and Keturah from season ten made up the next group. They’ve all come a long way since being eliminated. They were all hoping for aprons. However, not much has changed. Samantha went on to culinary school and graduated with honors. Jamie, who had muscle spasms during her season, was later diagnosed with a neurological disease. It may not sound like good news, but it gave Jamiee answers and allowed her to be treated for the sickness. And figure out how to live with it.
Malcolm Finished Third
Malcolm finished third. He made Dried Cranberry and Apple Bread Pudding and poured Bourbon Caramel sauce on top. The only complaint was that competing with the others might not be sufficient. Sheetal was the last to leave. Halibut Corn Tostadas with Avocado Crème and Slaw were on the menu. Her entrée was delicious, but the halibut headliner was a little dry. Shelly and Gabriel were the two persons who walked away with the last aprons.
