Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has reportedly generated approximately $1.3 billion in revenue across PlayStation and PC, according to estimates from Alinea Analytics. The figure highlights the extraordinary commercial performance of Insomniac Games’ sequel, which continues to attract players nearly three years after its original PS5 release.

The $1.3 billion figure is an Alinea Analytics estimate rather than an official Sony financial disclosure. However, the game’s recent performance provides additional evidence that Spider-Man remains one of PlayStation’s most valuable entertainment franchises.

Spider-Man 2 Gets a Major Boost From Brand New Day

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 received another significant sales boost following the theatrical release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Alinea estimates that the game sold approximately 316,000 additional copies across PS5 and Steam after the movie opened, generating more than $11 million in additional revenue in under two weeks.

The surge pushed the game’s estimated lifetime sales to around 18.2 million copies, with approximately 92% of those sales coming from PS5. The movie’s arrival also produced a noticeable increase in player activity, demonstrating how closely connected Sony’s gaming and entertainment businesses can become when major releases overlap.

Spider-Man 2 also benefited from its addition to PlayStation Plus Extra, bringing millions of additional players into the game without those users necessarily purchasing a copy. Alinea estimates that around 4.3 million new players accessed Spider-Man 2 through PlayStation Plus, making it one of the service’s biggest draws.

The game’s commercial performance is particularly notable when compared with Sony’s other recent first-party releases. Alinea estimates that Spider-Man 2 has generated substantially more revenue than titles such as Astro Bot, Stellar Blade and Ghost of Yotei, reinforcing the importance of established blockbuster franchises to PlayStation’s business.

The figures also arrive as Sony evaluates how it distributes major PlayStation releases. Alinea’s latest analysis estimates that physical copies accounted for roughly 35% of Spider-Man 2’s PS5 revenue, showing that discs remain financially significant even for one of PlayStation’s biggest digital-era successes.

With sales continuing on both PS5 and PC, Spider-Man 2’s $1.3 billion estimated revenue makes it a major example of the commercial value Sony can extract from a successful first-party franchise across multiple platforms.
