The new announcements build on the project’s original reveal in July 2024, when CLAMP’s beloved fantasy series was confirmed to be getting a new anime adaptation. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for more details, making the Anime Expo presentation one of the biggest updates yet.

New Voice Cast Brings the World of Cephiro to Life

The latest trailer confirmed three additional voice actors joining the cast. Yuki Kaji will voice Clef, the wise mentor who guides the Magic Knights, Emiri Kato plays the legendary blacksmith Presea, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka voices Ferio, the mysterious swordsman who becomes one of the trio’s earliest allies.

They join an already impressive main cast led by Ayane Sakura as Hikaru Shidō, Rumi Ōkubo as Umi Ryūzaki, and Rie Takahashi as Fū Hōōji. Together, the cast brings a mix of veteran talent and fan-favorite performers to one of anime’s most beloved fantasy adventures.

With nearly every major character now revealed, fans finally have a complete picture of the voices behind the new adaptation. The casting choices have been widely praised for balancing fresh performances with respect for the legacy of the original 1990s anime.

Experienced Staff Aim to Honor CLAMP’s Classic

The new adaptation is being directed by Yui Miura, marking the first time she has led a television anime series. Before this project, she worked on productions such as Ninja Kamui and Bullet/Bullet, making Magic Knight Rayearth an important milestone in her career.

Series composition is handled by Shigeru Murakoshi, whose previous credits include Zombie Land Saga and Apocalypse Hotel. Character designs are created by Satomi Watabe, while the soundtrack features music from renowned composers Yuki Kajiura, Takumi Ozawa, and Shiho Terada.

Animation is produced by Studio E&H, with TMS Entertainment’s UNLIMITED PRODUCE overseeing the project. This experienced creative team has raised expectations that the new series will faithfully capture the heart of CLAMP’s original manga while delivering visuals suited for modern audiences.

A Timeless Fantasy Story for New and Returning Fans

Magic Knight Rayearth follows three middle-school girls Hikaru, Umi, and Fū whose school trip to Tokyo Tower suddenly turns into an unforgettable adventure. They are transported to the magical world of Cephiro, where they learn they have been chosen as the legendary Magic Knights.

Their mission is to rescue Princess Emeraude, whose disappearance has thrown the kingdom into chaos. Along the way, the girls gain magical powers, forge powerful weapons, and face dangerous enemies as they grow stronger through friendship and determination.

Originally serialized by CLAMP in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine from 1993 to 1996, the manga became one of the defining fantasy and magical-girl series of its era. Its blend of adventure, emotion, and isekai storytelling continue to attract new readers decades after its debut.

October Premiere Marks the Beginning of a New Era

The anime is scheduled to premiere on October 7, 2026, as part of TV Asahi’s IMAnimation W programming block. The newly released trailer highlights improved animation, updated action sequences, and a faithful recreation of Cephiro’s fantasy world while preserving the spirit of the original series.

For longtime fans, the adaptation offers a chance to revisit one of CLAMP’s most influential works with modern production values. For newer viewers, it serves as an ideal introduction to a classic story that helped shape both the magical-girl and isekai genres.

With a talented voice cast, an experienced production team, and a confirmed release date, Magic Knight Rayearth is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated anime premieres of Fall 2026. The Anime Expo reveal has only increased excitement as fans count down to its October debut.
