Shinichiro Watanabe’s latest project, Lazarus, is officially set to hit screens this April. Produced by MAPPA Studios, this highly anticipated sci-fi thriller is set to premiere on Adult Swim’s Toonami block. The series will debut at midnight Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday, April 6, 2025, with new episodes available for streaming the following day on Max.
Japan will also receive the series in April via TV Tokyo, though an exact broadcast time remains under wraps. Fans can expect it to air within days of its U.S. debut. Lazarus Set for an Explosive Premiere

With the announcement came a brand-new trailer showcasing the anime’s English dub cast, including Bryson Baugus as Leland, Jack Stansbury as Axel, and Jovvan Jackson as Doug. Meanwhile, the original Japanese cast boasts industry veterans like Mamoru Miyano, Maaya Uchida, and Megumi Hayashibara, adding to the excitement.
Bringing Lazarus to life is an impressive lineup of industry veterans. Shinichiro Watanabe directs, with John Wick’s Chad Stahelski choreographing the action. The series’ soundtrack features jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington, alongside music producers Floating Points and Bonobo. Akemi Hayashi leads character design, while Stanislas Brunet and Mihi Suigura handle concept art and art direction.
Set in 2052, Lazarus follows a world freed from sickness thanks to a miracle drug, Hapuna. However, its creator, Dr. Skinner, resurfaces with a shocking revelation—Hapuna’s effects are temporary, and everyone who has taken it will die in three years. Now, a team of elite agents must stop Skinner before it’s too late.
