The hit Spanish Drug lord series “La Reina del Sur” will soon be airing the 9th episode of the latest season. With Teresa finally on a journey to find peace with her daughter, she gets pulled back into the life that demands courage and intelligence, along with the impending doom of death lurking behind each turn. Will Teresa be able to live the life she always envisioned, or will she be forever chained by her past?
La Reina del Sur was first seen on television in the year 2011. It was an adaptation of a book by Arturo Perez Reverte. A second season was aired after eight whole years and continued where the previous story had left off. The show has received multiple awards, including an Emmy award as the best non-English prime-time program in the US.
With the story continuing again after two years, the producers announced the show in July 2020, and the third season started airing on television on October 18th, 2022. With even a whole American adaptation of the show, La Reina del Sur continues to be one of the best shows Telemundo has ever seen on its platform.

The new installment will have a few familiar faces along with new additions to the La Reina del Sur family. As the story now takes place after Teresa’s arrest, we will be seeing more new characters that would be involved in her escape from the prison and her life after it. Kate del Castillo as Teresa Mendoza
Teresa is the main protagonist of the show. She used to be a timid, kind, and polite woman until her boyfriend was killed by a Mexican drug cartel. Since then, she has transformed into a strong business minded woman with a daughter and a legacy behind her. Mendoza continues to pursue a peaceful life but will look forward to revenge on whoever put her and her daughter in this mess.
Kate del Castillo reportedly felt this season’s filming was the most demanding, as it was filmed in over six different countries and many other locations. The episodes are also completely action-packed and cinematic since the budget for the 3rd season was set higher than its prequels.
Isabella Sierra as Sofia
Sofia is Teresa’s daughter who gets kidnapped in season 2. With Teresa being in jail for the past four years, Sofia’s location is not known, but it seems like she may be the reason Teresa will get back into the world of drug dealing for the third time.
Some new characters this season will be Pepe Rapazote, played by Pablo Landero, and Susana Guzman, played by the talented Greek actress Sofia Lama. She has also appeared in the American adaptation of the show as Emilia. We will also be seeing Beth Chamberlain, the popular CBS actress, but her role on the show hasn’t been revealed yet.
La Reina Del Sur: The Plot of Season 3
Teresa has seen the rise and fall of her career over the years and has been to prison twice now. Her journey as a notable drug lord in the land of Mexico has caused her to meet all kinds of people, both friends, and foes. At the 2nd season’s end, we saw Teresa being incarcerated after she had a confrontation with Alejandro and the DEA agents.
Four years after she was sent to prison for the killing of those DEA agents, Teresa finally makes a swift escape and is on the search for her daughter, Sofia. The four years in prison have given her enough time to sharpen her skills and plan a foolproof way to get rid of her past and live with her daughter peacefully.

La Reina Del Sur Season 3 Episode 9 will air on October 28th, 2022. The show has 60 episodes each season, which are aired Monday to Friday, each lasting about 45 minutes.

All the show’s episodes are premiered on Telemundo at 9:00 pm ET and 8:00 pm CT. Telemundo’s La Reina del Sur is only aired in America and its territories, such as Puerto Rico. Viewers outside of the US can stream the show on Netflix. Some regions have not seen the premiere of season 3 yet, so we can only hope Netflix updates the show soon.
