Marvel’s upcoming “WandaVision” spinoff series “Agatha” is expected to be “really scary,” according to Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ head of streaming, television, and animation.
During his appearance on the “Official Marvel Podcast” (via The Playlist), Winderbaum mentioned that while the show will initially be fun, it will eventually start scaring viewers.
“‘Agatha’ is really fun, but it’s really scary. And it gets quite dramatic,” Winderbaum teased. “She’s an amazing anti-hero. It lures you in with the fun of Halloween, and before you know it, you’re crying.”
“It’s a Marvel brand of scary. It’s a Halloween show,” he added. “There are deadly stakes in this series. It’s a fun ride, but it’s a dangerous one.”
Kathryn Hahn is leading the upcoming “WandaVision” spinoff series “Agatha,” reprising her Emmy-nominated role as Agatha Harkness.
The series, debuting on September 18 on Disney+, has its plot details under wraps but will follow the events of “WandaVision,” where Agatha was left powerless by Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff.
The cast includes Joe Locke, Patti LuPone, Aubrey Plaza, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and Debra Jo Rupp. “WandaVision” showrunner Jac Schaeffer is behind the spinoff.
Brad Winderbaum also discussed the upcoming limited series “Daredevil: Born Again,” which marks the full-fledged return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil. Cox has had brief appearances in other MCU projects, including “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Echo,” and “She-Hulk.”
“These characters have matured. The universe is different than it was,” Winderbaum explained. “Things have changed. Society has changed. Matt [Murdock] and Wilson [Fisk] have changed, and their characters are going to collide in ways we’ve never seen before. It’s no longer enough to try to murder each other. There’s a whole game of politics at play.”
