Rintaro is preparing to leave his house when his mother spots him and gets stunned by his hair but Rintaro tells her not to worry and that he’s fine. He then goes on the trip with his friends and they return by train afterwards. Rintaro decides to walk Hoshina and Kaoruko back home and so he gets off the train at their station.
Rintaro walks with them for some distance but then their paths separate. He offers Hoshina that he could walk her home and then return but she refuses as she lives nearby. She says her farewell to Kaoruko and Rintaro and tells Rintaro to take care of Kaoruko for her and he accepts her request.
Rintaro asks Kaoruko if she has some spare time even though it is quite late. Kaoruko says that it’s fine and that she has time and so Rintaro asks her to come along with him to a certain place as he wants to tell her something. They arrive at a park which Kaoruko showed Rintaro earlier and Kaoruko asks him what he was going to tell her.
Rintaro sits down and says that he wanted Kaoruko(Waguri as Rintaro calls her) to be the first person to know that he is not going to dye his hair Blonde anymore. He says that there are a lot of things he wants to tell her but for now this is it but he gets interrupted by Kaoruko as she shouts at him and says that she doesn’t want him to go along with this.
Kaoruko blames herself and asks him if he’s doing this because of her. She tells her what Subaru said and how he felt like he couldn’t help Kaoruko but she says that he has already helped her enough. Kaoruko gets really sad and says that she knows how important blonde hair is to Rintaro and so she doesn’t ever wanna take that away from him.
Rintaro starts laughing and says that he expected such a response from her but he had no idea Subaru would tell her that. Kaoruko shouts at him for being so unbothered by everything. She says that if he’s worried about making a good impression then it’s not necessary but Rintaro stops her.
Rintaro says that if changing how he looks can save what he cares about then it is a small price to pay. He asks Kaoruko if she’ll lose feelings for him if he’s not blonde which makes her embarrassed. He says that it’s his turn to protect her now the same way she protected him when he was scared and all alone.
Rintaro tells Kaoruko that in his moments of despair and sadness, he was still strong and he told himself everything will be okay because Kaoruko called him by his name. Kaoruko starts crying and asks him to hug her and he happily agrees.
