On June 3, 2024, KADOKAWA revealed a website for their new project, KADOKAWA Masterpiece Comics (KMC), marking the initiative’s official announcement.

This platform serves as a hub for the adaptation of classic literature into manga format.

The project aims to introduce timeless stories from both Japan and other parts of the world to a broader audience, particularly targeting younger readers who may not be familiar with the original works.

The inaugural lineup of adaptations includes several notable classics. The Silent Miaow by Paul Gallico, illustrated by Katana Sajima, is set for release on July 20.

Following this, The Legends of Tono by Kunio Yanagita will be adapted into manga by artist Kujiraba, with a scheduled release in September.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho will be illustrated by Tamaki Nakamura and is slated for release in November.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time by Yasutaka Tsutsui will be adapted by artist Hiroaki Terada and planned for release in January 2025.

Finally, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is also in the lineup, with the artist yet to be decided, and an expected release in March 2025.

Through these adaptations, KMC aims to bridge the gap between traditional literature and modern entertainment, offering engaging and accessible versions of these classic stories.
