The book has become one of the highly recommended and popular books on BookTok. It Ends With Us has been sitting on the No.1 position on Publisher’s Weekly’s top 10 overall and The Times’ paperback trade fiction list for weeks and has even won the Goodreads Choice Awards.
Readers who have read this heart-wrenching book were thrilled when Colleen Hoover revealed the news about the book getting a sequel. But, even this sequel couldn’t dim the happiness readers felt when the news about their favorite book getting a feature film was announced.

It Ends With Us follows Lily, Ryle, and Atlas. Lily’s life hasn’t always been easy; she has worked hard to become whatever she is today. She has come a long way from the small town where she grew up to Boston, where she has started her own business. When she meets the gorgeous neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid, suddenly, everything in her life seems too good to be true. Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and arrogant, but that fades into the background because he is also sensitive, brilliant, and has a soft spot for Lily.
Lily might have been an exception to his no-dating rule, but his complete aversion to relationships has been disturbing for her. She can’t help but wonder what had happened to turn Ryle into what he was at present. Yet, they are happy in their relatively new relationship, spending time together and learning more about each other. Suddenly, her first love, Atlas Corrigan, the guy who was also her protector and her kindred spirit, reappears in her life by chance, and everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

Having read the novel when it came out, then rereading it again and again, we are really happy to know that this novel will be getting a film adaptation. The book deals with themes that must be talked about more, and this adaptation will undoubtedly give the people who don’t read a chance to witness the story about a girl who wanted to end “it”.

Sometimes books getting adapted can be good since not everyone is a reader, and there are several good books that should be turned into movies. It Ends With Us is one such book that, if executed properly, would be a hit for the message it conveys. Young girls and women often find themselves in Lily’s position, so perhaps this movie could help them when they think they are alone or they don’t know what to do.
All of us, at some point, have encountered a Ryle, but sometimes we might be lucky enough to stumble upon a chance to meet our Atlas. It Ends With Us is a book about hope, determination, and strength, it’s about women who feel like they are wrong, that whatever they are going through- it’s because they deserve it or they aren’t enough; it’s a powerful story about women who decide that they have had enough.
Though we would love to see this movie on screens right now, the film is at the early development stages having only a script in place as of now. Justin Baldoni is adapting the novel for film through his Wayfarer Entertainment Company. On October 2021, he shared on his TikTok that the first draft of the movie had been completed.
There was news claiming that Justin had stepped off the project, saying that this project would be better for a woman to direct, but nothing else was heard on the matter. The cast hasn’t been revealed yet. It might be some time before we get all the details on the movie, so till then, we might re-read the book willing the film to come quickly.
