Rapper Bad Bunny or otherwise called by his actual name Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, recently decided to bring a spicy twist to his career by signing up for WWE or world wrestling entertainment. This rapper-turned-wrestler rose to fame first through his music which includes a lot of Latin trap and reggaeton genres.
His 2016 song titled Diles brought him a contract with Hear This Music, but his major breakthrough in the music industry was through a song called I Like It, a collaboration between him and another rapper called Cardi B. Since his entry into the industry, he has collaborated with various popular artists, including Karol G, Ozuna, and J Balvin.
While his albums have overall managed to do well on the charts, his 2020 released album called El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo became the first ever all-Spanish album to enter the Billboard 200, that too at number one. Bad Bunny is single-handedly responsible for bringing Spanish music into the mainstream media.
His impact on the Spanish music industry has been huge as well, and he has been awarded the Grammys three times. He has earned a total of eight Billboard awards and thirteen Lo Nuestro awards. The artist has always kept true to his roots, and even though he has become a mainstream act now, he has managed to open the door for other Spanish artists as well.
His recent popular albums have set some records and broken some others, but overall, despite getting so big, the singer-songwriter has not let go of his authentic music style, which actually got him to this point in the first place.
The rapper continues to establish himself as an artist, constantly putting out newer and more refined music, but while he is still all about making music, he has also switched sides to a whole new field of entertainment.
Is Rapper Bad Bunny In WWE?
Fans have actually been spotting the rapper at the WWE promotion since 2021, though the rapper himself has stated at different places that he has always been a fan of professional wrestling. The singer has slowly but gradually crawled his way into the professional wrestling space.
He started as a fan, came to watch a few shows, performed at some, and participated in others, and has finally managed to make space for himself in the WWE field enough to have participated in it as a wrestler.
Previously, he is known to have teamed up with a fellow Peurto Rican professional wrestler, Damien Priest, for a tag team match, which was his formal debut in the ring and one that he won.
At the start of 2022, the rapper-turned-wrestler competed in the Royal Rumble match, where he managed to defeat a bunch of wrestlers but had to eventually submit to Brock Lesnar‘s strength. In early 2023, the rapper took up the offer to be the host at Backlash, a WWE event all set to take place in his hometown in Puerto Rico.
The rapper seems to have completely given up making music, as he seems to be getting thoroughly involved in professional wrestling. But the journey has not been smooth all along, as the rapper was spotted getting attacked and choked slammed by his former ally Damien Priest.
Getting attacked by the same man who got him in the ring in the first place must have hit a nerve, as Bad Bunny announced just the next day that he would be fighting Damien Priest officially in the ring.
He did so right after he took down Priest in a surprise attack with a kendo stick, exactly a day after he was attacked by the latter.
In early May, the rapper helped the Latino World Order save Rey Mysterio, which led Mysterio to give him a T-shirt of the LWO stable, which was basically the former announcing the latter’s addition to the team to fans.
Just the next day, Bad Bunny had his fight with Damien Priest, the one he had challenged him to, at the San Juan Street Fight, and much to the fans liking, the rapper slash professional wrestler managed to secure a win in the fight, defeating the guy who got him near the wrestling grounds and then backstabbed him by attacking him.
