Interceptor Plot
‘Interceptor’ begins with a group of soldiers taking over Fort Greely, one of the two US Army missile defense systems. Meanwhile, Captain JJ Collins is reappointed to the other missile defense installation, SBX-1, located in a classified area in the Pacific. On her first day back at the base, Colonel Marshall informs her that they are tracking a Russian submarine. Collins sees her coworkers Rahul Shah and Beaver Baker, and Marshall, and the four of them learn that Fort Greely has been destroyed. The Pentagon warns them of Russian missiles aimed against fifteen US cities in a short time.
Collins and others prepare to defend the country from an incoming missile strike. SBX-1 is the only remaining active missile defense installation. Alexander Kessel and his squad kill Marshall and explain that they are the ones behind the Russian missile attack. Collins manages to keep Alexander and his group out of the command center, only for Beaver to disclose that he is one of them. Collins learns that Alexander is a retired US military intelligence officer.
Breaching The Command Center
Alexander and his squad penetrated the command center with the help of Beaver and began a live transmission to inform the public that fifteen US states would be devastated soon. Alexander orders the launch of one missile to start. But Collins intercepts it with an interceptor before it reaches Los Angeles. As vengeance, Alexander opens the base’s valves, sinking the complex. Shah tries to close the valves but is slain by Beaver in the process. Collins suspects him of being a hired gun rather than the mastermind behind the attacks.

Interceptor Ending Explained
In the ending of Interceptor, Captain Collins launches the interceptors before Russian missiles can reach the US. When Alexander unlocks the SBX-1 valves, the base begins to descend into the Pacific. Collins is forced to destroy fourteen Russian missiles before the facility sinks to save her country. She knows that Alexander has the luxury of waiting for the base to fall before attacking the US, and the only way to prevent this is to push him to launch the missiles as soon as possible so that she can fire the interceptors before the base sinks as well. So, Collins deceives Alexander by allowing him to gain control of the command center after receiving approval from the President.
Collins’ Hubris
Collins believes she can retake control of the facility once Alexander orders the missiles to be launched to kill them. Alexander commands the launch of the fourteen missiles rather than waiting for the base to sink, so her plan works. He decides to launch the missiles as soon as possible. That’s to demonstrate his arrogance and power to the rest of the world. Despite bragging about seizing charge of the command center, Alexander fails to recognize that he has stepped right into Collins’ trap. She runs back to the command center to launch the interceptors, only to discover that the launch button has been smashed by acid.
Collins can still fire the interceptors by launching them from her laptop. She murders Beaver, climbs to the base’s roof, attaches the computer to the launch system, and fires the interceptors. The interceptors kill all fourteen missiles before any danger can arise. Collins’ bravery in putting millions of lives at risk by allowing Alexander to enter the command center and authorizing the launch of the missiles aids her in saving the same lives.
