And it was clear that this would be the route that this story would take, for there is nothing more romantic than having a giant dragon falling head over heels for someone.
Calix is a bit of an oddity (which adds to his charm) when it comes to his character. He is a dragon reformed in the shape of a human with an important mission to get back his essence from the human who ate it. He doesn’t care what the circumstances of her eating the essence. He just wants it back.
However, after becoming human and spending time with Celia, his mind started to change as he experienced human emotion for the first time. But, since he had never felt this before, his feelings for her developed into that of an obsessive lover. He wants to keep Celia to himself and would make excuses to get her to be at his side.

If You Get Caught, You’ll Die! Chapter 31 continued where the last chapter left off, with Celia confused and not knowing what to think. She had no idea what goes inside the head of Calix (or so she thinks). And why does Calix look her way as if there was something more than him wanting his essence back?
Calix made things more confusing by kissing her in the last chapter and not putting into words how he feels for her. This aggravates and confuses Celia to no end.
A little confession from Calix would fix everything in their life. But, this is the kind of manhwa where there won’t be any more development if the love is confessed by the characters.
Though it would be better put that confessing love tantamounts to admitting defeat, however, that story would be “Love is War.” And ironically enough, in a story of magic and beasts, the path to love and confession is a lot more warped. But, the long and wind-up journey is what makes this story appealing, and Celia’s case is no different.

If You Get Caught, You’ll Die! Chapter 32 will see the arrival of a new challenger in the story! But not really. The character introduced in the last chapter is just to make Calix feels more conscious of Celia. This is one of the oldest tricks in the book, as it instills jealousy and insecurity that the person of one’s affection is not available and will be taken.
This is one of the most recurring tropes in the modern romance story, and it doesn’t look like it will die anytime soon. As it does the job of making characters want each other efficiently and even creates chaos between them to further their relationship. This then leads to the two leads coming together more than ever and ultimately being one with the other in the end. The rival character won’t be relevant for so long.
